Yes. You can pair non-Apple Bluetooth earbuds with an iPhone and use them to play audio. Put the earbuds in pairing mode, connect them through Settings > Bluetooth, then select them as the playback destination. The exact features available depend on the earbud model.
How to connect non-Apple earbuds to an iPhone
- Put the earbuds in pairing or discovery mode using the instructions for that model. The earbuds need to be discoverable before the iPhone can find them.
- On your iPhone, open Settings > Bluetooth and turn Bluetooth on.
- Keep the earbuds near the iPhone, then tap their name when it appears in the device list. Apple gives an approximate pairing distance of up to 10 meters (33 feet). If prompted for a PIN or passcode, check the earbud maker’s instructions.
- Start playing audio. If it does not come through the earbuds automatically, open the audio playback destination control and select them.

What works—and what may vary
Bluetooth earbuds from other manufacturers can connect to an iPhone for audio playback; Apple does not limit iPhone audio to AirPods. However, Apple notes that not all accessories are fully compatible with iPhone. Pairing and basic audio playback do not guarantee that every model-specific feature will work as expected.
Before relying on a particular feature, check the earbud maker’s information for that exact model and confirm it supports the iPhone features you want. Apple also provides a Spanish-language guide to connecting third-party Bluetooth accessories, which likewise cautions that compatibility can vary.

If the earbuds do not appear or connect
- Confirm that the earbuds are in pairing or discovery mode, following the maker’s instructions.
- Keep them near the iPhone; Apple’s approximate maximum pairing distance is 10 meters (33 feet).
- If the iPhone asks for a code, use the PIN or passcode specified by the earbud maker.
- If pairing still fails, use the model’s instructions for troubleshooting or resetting it. There is no single reset procedure that applies to every pair of earbuds.
