Yes. NVIDIA supports GeForce NOW in Chrome on Windows and macOS, so you do not need a Chromebook or the native GeForce NOW app to play through the service. Open play.geforcenow.com in Chrome. NVIDIA lists Chrome 77.x or later as the browser requirement; the game is streamed from NVIDIA’s servers, so your connection and latency matter.
How to play GeForce NOW in Chrome
- On a Windows PC or Mac, open Chrome version 77.x or later.
- Go to play.geforcenow.com.
- Sign in to your GeForce NOW account and follow the on-screen prompts to start a supported game.
Chrome support is not a new 2026 launch. NVIDIA’s release history says GeForce NOW version 2.0.27 added beta support for Google Chrome on Windows and macOS. That version number describes the historical rollout, not the current minimum browser version.
What internet connection do you need?
Because GeForce NOW streams games rather than running them locally, NVIDIA’s listed browser requirements focus on connection speed and latency. These are vendor thresholds, not a guarantee that every device or connection will deliver the same experience.

NVIDIA also requires less than 80 ms of latency to an NVIDIA data center. It recommends a wired Ethernet connection or a router using 5 GHz Wi-Fi. A connection that meets the bandwidth figure may still perform poorly if latency is high or the network is unstable.

Do you need a controller or gaming mouse?
No special input device is required just to open GeForce NOW in Chrome. NVIDIA lists Microsoft Xbox and Sony DualSense and DualShock 4 controllers as supported gamepads on Windows and macOS, and recommends a USB gaming mouse. These are optional accessories, not prerequisites for browser access.
What if the GeForce NOW app no longer supports your operating system?
NVIDIA says its app stopped receiving support and updates on Windows 7, Windows 8.1, and macOS 10.11–10.14 starting with app version 2.0.71. It suggests trying a supported browser if you cannot upgrade the operating system. That suggestion does not guarantee that a current, secure version of Chrome is available for those older systems, or that GeForce NOW will work on them. The Chrome requirement NVIDIA lists is version 77.x or later.
