No. Older original MagSafe and MagSafe 2 cables and power adapters are not compatible with a MacBook’s MagSafe 3 port. Apple’s guidance is explicit: “MagSafe 2 and MagSafe power adapters aren’t compatible with MagSafe 3.” For MagSafe charging, use a USB-C power adapter and a USB-C to MagSafe 3 cable. Many MagSafe 3 MacBooks can also charge through USB-C.
Why older MagSafe chargers do not work with MagSafe 3
Apple treats original MagSafe, MagSafe 2, and MagSafe 3 as different connector generations, not interchangeable versions of one plug. An older magnetic connector that looks as if it might fit is not evidence that it is electrically or physically compatible. The MagSafe-to-MagSafe 2 converter does not solve this problem. Apple describes it for using an older MagSafe adapter with a MagSafe 2 computer, and says it is not compatible with MagSafe 3. Do not buy one as a bridge to a MagSafe 3 MacBook. Apple Support: Use a power adapter with your Mac
What to use instead
MagSafe 3 charging
The correct setup is a USB-C power adapter connected to a USB-C to MagSafe 3 cable, which then connects to the MacBook. The adapter and cable are separate components; an old MagSafe adapter does not connect directly to the MagSafe 3 cable. Apple lists a 2-meter USB-C to MagSafe 3 replacement cable. USB-C charging
Apple says supported MagSafe 3 MacBooks can also charge through USB-C. If the Mac supports USB-C charging, a USB-C power adapter or display with either greater or lower wattage than the recommended adapter can charge it. Check your Mac model before choosing an adapter
Apple identifies MacBook Air models introduced in 2022 or later and MacBook Pro models introduced in 2021 or later as MagSafe 3-capable groups, with one stated exception: the 13-inch MacBook Pro with M2, introduced in 2022. Apple’s fast-charge guidance says compatible MacBook Air models introduced in 2022 or later and 14- and 16-inch MacBook Pro models introduced in 2021 or later can reach about 50 percent battery in around 30 minutes with specified adapter, cable, and model combinations. This is a conditional capability, not a promise for every USB-C adapter or every MagSafe 3 MacBook. Check Apple’s current model-specific combinations at Fast-charge your MacBook Air or MacBook Pro.

If your existing MagSafe equipment is damaged or not working, Apple recommends having it evaluated by Apple or an Apple Authorised Service Provider. Replacement choices depend on the connector generation and Mac model; use Apple’s cable and adapter support page to identify the appropriate option rather than trying to adapt an old plug.
