Sometimes, but acceptance is not guaranteed. PlayStation says a card registered to an address in a different country from your PlayStation Store region may not link, and its terms allow it to reject payment details when the card’s country information does not match the account’s country or area of residence. The UAE Store lists Visa, Mastercard and American Express, but that network list does not promise that every card issued abroad will work.
Why a foreign card may be rejected
The main issue is the country associated with the card’s registered billing address compared with the country of your PlayStation Store account. PlayStation’s card troubleshooting guidance says: “If your credit or debit card is registered to an address in a different country to that of your PlayStation Store region, you may find that they cannot be linked.” This is a possibility, not a statement that every foreign card is automatically blocked. What to do if your card does not work
- Check whether the Store is online. PlayStation scheduled UAE Store maintenance for the transition from US dollars to UAE dirhams from October 5 through October 8, 2026. The notice says purchases cannot be made while the Store is offline. Check the UAE Store currency-change notice for current availability, since the scheduled window may have passed or changed.
- Confirm the account’s Store region. Check that the account is set to the UAE region if you are using the UAE Store. Enter the payment details as they appear on your bank statement; a country mismatch can stop the card from linking.
- Check the card and bank settings. Verify the card type is supported, online payments are enabled, the information is accurate, and the bank has not blocked the transaction. PlayStation advises contacting the card provider if the issue persists. PlayStation card troubleshooting
- Choose another supported route. Try a UAE-listed option such as PayPal or an eligible mobile payment, or use a PlayStation Store voucher that matches the account’s country and currency. What the 2026 currency transition means for gift cards
PlayStation’s UAE notice says existing US-dollar PlayStation gift cards remain valid. It states that redemptions after maintenance completion convert to local currency at 1 USD = 4.00 AED. For a new voucher, match its country and currency to the account. Do not assume a code bought for another Store region can be redeemed on a UAE account.
