No—not individually, according to Google Meet’s published help instructions. Meet lets you choose your speaker and adjust the sound you hear overall, but does not document a control for lowering one participant’s volume without affecting others. If one person is too loud, ask them to lower their microphone input; if needed and permitted, mute them.
Adjust the sound you hear
If the entire meeting is too loud, lower your computer or headset’s output volume. In Meet, check that the intended speaker is selected and test it in the audio settings. Google’s audio setup instructions cover selecting and testing devices, not adjusting an individual participant’s playback level.
On Windows, sound reduction during a meeting may come from Windows rather than Meet, as Google notes in its audio troubleshooting guidance.
Ask the loud participant to adjust their microphone
Ask the person to lower their microphone input level in their device settings and check that the microphone is positioned appropriately. This is a practical troubleshooting step, not a remote control: the reviewed Meet instructions do not document a host setting for changing another participant’s microphone gain.

Mute the participant if you have permission
If the sound is disruptive and you are allowed to intervene, mute the participant from their tile or the People list. Google’s participant-muting instructions describe eligibility rules that vary by account type and meeting settings. Host Management can further limit who is able to mute participants. Check the applicable rules for your meeting. For privacy, someone else cannot unmute the person; they must turn their microphone back on themselves.
Audio Lock is a meeting-wide restriction
A host or co-host can use Audio Lock when Host Management is enabled to prevent participants from turning on their microphones. It is not a way to lower one person’s volume. When the lock is removed, participants must manually re-enable their microphones. Google says Audio Lock can be set from a computer or iOS device, with settings applying across devices; participants using older mobile apps or operating systems may be removed from the meeting. See Google’s Audio Lock instructions for current steps and compatibility details.
