Yes, technically: You can use an encoder to broadcast authorized videos as a YouTube live stream. But YouTube’s help pages do not confirm that one stream can run indefinitely or guarantee uninterrupted 24/7 playback. You also need permission to rebroadcast the videos and must accurately identify whether the stream is made for kids.

What “24/7 on YouTube” means

An encoder-based live stream sends video and audio to YouTube as a live broadcast. That is different from asking YouTube to keep replaying existing videos or a playlist: the official guidance describes encoder streaming, not a feature that turns a chosen playlist of kids’ videos into a guaranteed always-on live channel.

YouTube Help states that a channel can have up to 10 active streams and a stream key up to 3 active streams at once. Those are simultaneous-stream limits, not a stated duration limit for one stream. The reviewed guidance does not establish whether an individual stream has a maximum duration or how its archive is retained after it ends.

Before you stream children’s videos

Get permission to rebroadcast every part

Only stream videos, music, and other material you have the rights to use for a live rebroadcast. The fact that a video is publicly watchable on YouTube does not, by itself, give another channel permission to retransmit it. YouTube lists copyright strikes and matches to another copyrighted live broadcast among circumstances that can restrict a live stream.

Set the audience accurately

Creators are responsible for correctly marking content as made for kids or not made for kids. Consider the intended audience and the content itself, including child characters, songs, stories, games, and subject matter such as preschool education. Family-friendly content is not automatically made for kids.

For made-for-kids live streams, YouTube may disable features including live chat, personalized ads, notifications, comments, and other engagement or monetization tools. YouTube says personalized ads are disabled for made-for-kids content, although contextual ads may be shown.

How to set up an encoder-based live stream

  1. Check live-stream access. YouTube’s published eligibility requirements include a verified channel and no live-streaming restrictions in the preceding 90 days. Confirm access in your account before preparing a continuous broadcast.
  2. Prepare authorized video and audio. Build the material you are entitled to broadcast into the encoder’s playback or playlist workflow. Check that the order, transitions, and audio are suitable for a live audience.
  3. Create the stream in Live Control Room. Choose YouTube’s encoder workflow and configure the broadcast there. YouTube documents encoder streaming, but does not require dedicated hardware: software encoders may also suit a creator’s setup.
  4. Use the stream key with your encoder. Copy the key from YouTube’s live setup into the encoder’s streaming settings, keeping it private. Start the encoder’s output and confirm that YouTube receives the signal.
  5. Set the audience designation. In the live setup, mark the stream according to whether it is made for kids. Make the decision based on the content and intended audience, not simply on whether parents might also watch.
  6. Start and monitor the broadcast. Confirm the live preview and status in Live Control Room. Keep checking the stream and encoder while it is running; YouTube’s documentation does not promise a stream will remain connected without interruption.

YouTube says all live-stream content must follow its Community Guidelines and Terms of Service. A technically working encoder does not override those rules or copyright obligations.

Encoder stream or uploaded videos?

Option What it does What to consider
Encoder-based live stream Broadcasts material as a live event through an encoder to YouTube. Useful when you need a live broadcast URL; requires authorized material, correct audience settings, and an encoder workflow.
Uploaded videos or a playlist Makes videos available as ordinary YouTube uploads or playlist items. A playlist is not thereby a 24/7 live stream. The reviewed YouTube guidance does not establish a feature that guarantees continuous live playback from a selected playlist.

Or let it run in the cloud

If you have rights to the videos, StreamNeo is a cloud option for keeping a YouTube channel live from uploaded videos: upload the recording or build a playlist, add your YouTube stream key, and go live. It plays uploaded videos rather than broadcasting from a camera.

  • Your computer and home connection do not have to stay on.
  • One flat price per slot covers any uploaded quality up to 4K 60fps, without re-encoding or quality tiers.
  • It automatically recovers if YouTube drops the stream.
  • The first day is free, with no card required.

The monthly option is $9.99 per month. StreamNeo is for YouTube only. If this fits your rights-cleared videos and workflow, start your free day with StreamNeo.
