Having TikTok installed does not establish that your phone is worth more. During a brief U.S. app-store disruption in January 2025, sellers posted eye-catching asking prices for TikTok-loaded phones, but the coverage did not show that ordinary phones sold for those amounts. As of October 8, 2026, TikTok is listed in both the U.S. Apple App Store and Google Play, so the scarcity argument behind those listings is not established now.
Can I sell a phone with TikTok installed?
Yes. You can offer a phone with TikTok installed, subject to the rules of the marketplace you use. Be accurate about the phone model, storage, condition, carrier-lock status, and whether the app opens and remains usable. Do not promise that TikTok will keep working for the buyer: access can depend on the device, account, location, and future app or service changes.
Protect your own information before handing over any device. Back up anything you want to keep, sign out of accounts, and follow the phone maker’s guidance for erasing personal data. If preserving the app is central to your listing, check the marketplace’s rules and make sure your description does not imply a guaranteed future service.
If you sell through TikTok Shop US
TikTok Shop US’s Refurbished Electronics Requirements, dated October 5, 2026, say sellers need approval before listing or offering refurbished electronic products and must remove personal information and other end-user data where applicable. That policy is specific to TikTok Shop US and refurbished electronics; it does not establish the rules for eBay or a private sale. The cited policy also does not clarify how a seller should handle a listing whose appeal depends on leaving TikTok installed.

Are people really paying thousands for TikTok phones?
High asking prices were reported during the 2025 disruption, but an asking price is not proof of a completed sale. The Associated Press reported listings as high as $50,000 on January 24, 2025, while noting that it was unclear whether many phones sold at those prices. It also described lower-priced listings and a seller’s reported bid; none of that establishes a typical sale price or a reliable premium. Read the Associated Press report.
Android Authority reported more than 24,000 eBay listings for “TikTok phone” in January 2025. That was a listing count, not a count of completed transactions. Read Android Authority’s report.

Can you still download TikTok in the US?
As checked on October 8, 2026, TikTok had a free download listing in Apple’s U.S. App Store and an install option on Google Play. Google Play’s page reported an update date of September 10, 2026. These store pages are snapshots, not a guarantee of availability for every device, account, or location; app availability and policy can change.

No reliable model-specific premium is established by the available reporting. A buyer’s interest, if any, would depend on the exact handset and storage, its condition, whether it is locked to a carrier, and whether TikTok is installed and usable after handoff. The 2025 listings do not show what a particular phone would sell for today.

To assess an offer, compare completed sales for the same model, storage, condition, and lock status—not headline asking prices for vaguely described “TikTok phones.” Account for marketplace fees and the time and privacy costs of preparing the device. The evidence available here does not support a current price range or a guaranteed extra amount for keeping the app installed.
