Scan for outdated or missing drivers - takes under a minuteDriver Scan →Repair Windows errors before they cause bigger problemsFix Now →Diablo IV can be made to run on some Apple-silicon Macs through unofficial compatibility tools, but Apple’s Game Porting Toolkit is a developer evaluation environment—not a supported Mac version of the game. A June 2023 video demonstrated the approach on an M1 MacBook Air; that historical result does not establish that the method still works, or performs well, on your Mac today. Blizzard says Diablo IV is not supported on Mac.
What the Game Porting Toolkit does—and what it does not
Apple describes Game Porting Toolkit as a way for developers to evaluate an unmodified Windows game on Apple silicon, estimate its performance, and assess graphics portability. Its current developer page identifies Game Porting Toolkit 4 and an evaluation environment that supports Metal 4. Apple also points developers to tools such as Metal HUD, GPU capture, and System Trace.
That purpose matters: the toolkit helps developers evaluate and port games; it is not a consumer Mac release of Diablo IV or a Blizzard-supported Mac launcher. Running a Windows game through compatibility and graphics translation is different from installing a native Mac build.
Blizzard’s support response on March 14, 2024, states that “Diablo IV was never released on Mac and is not supported on Mac by Blizzard.” It also says the game “requires Windows 10 64bit or higher to play.” Read Blizzard’s support response and the Windows requirements it displays.

What the MacBook demonstration actually establishes
Andrew Tsai’s Tips published “How to play Diablo IV on Mac using Game Porting Toolkit” on June 10, 2023. Its setup material identifies an M1 MacBook Air. This is evidence that the creator presented a historical demonstration on that device—not proof of a supported setup or a current, repeatable method for every MacBook.
The video listing does not establish a measured frame rate, thermals, exact game settings, the precise macOS or toolkit version used, long-session stability, or whether the procedure continues to work after later game and operating-system updates. Treat it as a dated proof-of-concept, not a performance benchmark or step-by-step guide guaranteed to work now.

Windows requirements are not Mac performance promises
Blizzard’s displayed minimum requirements are for Windows. They list 64-bit Windows 10 version 1909 or newer, an Intel Core i5-2500K or AMD FX-8350 processor, 8 GB RAM, an NVIDIA GeForce GTX 660, AMD Radeon R9 280, or Intel Arc A380 graphics, DirectX 12, an SSD with 90 GB available, and broadband internet. Blizzard’s stated minimum target is 1080p native resolution with 720p render resolution, low graphics settings, at 30 fps.
Those specifications do not predict how Diablo IV will run on a Mac through translation. The 8 GB memory and 90 GB storage figures are Windows minimum requirements, not Mac recommendations or a Mac installation-size claim. Blizzard also warns that running below its Windows minimums may significantly diminish the experience.

Current alternative: check CrossOver’s compatibility listing
CodeWeavers’ CrossOver compatibility database lists Diablo IV from Blizzard Entertainment. The entry was last modified July 29, 2026, making it a more current compatibility signal than the 2023 video, but not a guarantee for every Mac model, macOS version, or game update. CodeWeavers warns that some applications can have reduced functionality or may not run.
CrossOver is consumer compatibility software, whereas Apple’s toolkit is framed for developer evaluation and porting. CodeWeavers says CrossOver supports Intel and Apple-silicon Macs subject to macOS version requirements. Before paying for CrossOver or upgrading macOS, check the Diablo IV entry in CodeWeavers’ compatibility database and the CrossOver Mac User Guide for current compatibility and system notes. A database listing is not Blizzard support.

Which route makes sense?
| Route | Intended use | What is established | Important limitation |
|---|---|---|---|
| Apple Game Porting Toolkit | Developer evaluation and porting of Windows games to Apple platforms | Apple describes an evaluation environment for unmodified Windows executables on Apple silicon. | It is not a supported consumer Mac release or a guarantee that Diablo IV will install or run reliably. |
| CodeWeavers CrossOver | Consumer compatibility software for running Windows applications on Mac | CodeWeavers lists Diablo IV in its compatibility database; the entry was last modified July 29, 2026. | Compatibility can vary by game, macOS version, and hardware; listing does not mean Blizzard supports the game on Mac. |
If you want to experiment as a developer, Apple’s Game Porting Toolkit page explains its evaluation and porting role. If your goal is to try the game on a Mac as an end user, CrossOver has the more directly relevant current compatibility listing, but verify the listing and system notes for your particular setup before relying on it.
