Sometimes—but “low-end PC” is too vague for a reliable yes or no. Check the exact CPU, graphics card and video memory, RAM, Windows and DirectX support, and free storage against the requirements for the specific game. Minimum requirements indicate a starting compatibility threshold; they do not promise a particular frame rate or smooth play.

How the requirements differ by game

These three examples show why Soulslike games cannot be treated as one hardware category. The figures below are published minimums, not measured performance results.

Game Published minimum requirements What to take from them
DARK SOULS III Intel Core i3-2100 or AMD FX-6300; 4 GB RAM; NVIDIA GeForce GTX 750 Ti or ATI Radeon HD 7950; DirectX 11; 25 GB storage. Steam lists 64-bit Windows 7 SP1, Windows 8.1, or Windows 10. It has the lowest minimum RAM figure in this comparison, but the CPU, GPU, operating system, and other requirements still matter. Check the Steam listing.
Lies of P Windows 10 64-bit; AMD Ryzen 3 1200; 8 GB RAM; AMD Radeon RX 560 4GB; DirectX 12; 50 GB storage. AMD’s listing gives AMD processor and graphics examples. Its “minimum” label is not an FPS guarantee. See AMD’s Lies of P requirements.
ELDEN RING Windows 10; Intel Core i5-8400 or AMD Ryzen 3 3300X; 12 GB RAM; NVIDIA GeForce GTX 1060 3 GB or AMD Radeon RX 580 4 GB; DirectX 12 Feature Level 12.0; 60 GB storage. The listed RAM and GPU generation are notably higher than DARK SOULS III’s. Check DirectX feature support, not just the GPU’s name. See Bandai Namco’s ELDEN RING information.

For RAM, the published minimums are 4 GB for DARK SOULS III (Steam listing; 2016 release), 8 GB for Lies of P (AMD’s page; requirement publication date not stated there), and 12 GB for ELDEN RING (Bandai Namco; 2022). Their recommended RAM figures are 8 GB, 16 GB, and 16 GB respectively. These figures come from different listings and do not provide a like-for-like frame-rate comparison.

How to check whether your PC meets a game’s requirements

  1. Choose the game first. Open its current official or store listing and use that game’s requirements rather than a generic “Soulslike” estimate.
  2. Check the full CPU model. A broad label such as “Core i5” does not tell you whether your processor matches the listed model.
  3. Match the exact GPU and video memory. An integrated GPU—or an older card with a similar name—is not automatically equivalent to the model listed.
  4. Check the remaining requirements. Compare installed RAM, supported Windows version, DirectX version or feature level, and available storage.
  5. Set expectations around your goal. Resolution and desired frame rate are your targets, not guarantees made by these requirement lists. Meeting a minimum alone does not establish that a game will run smoothly.

Performance adjustments to try

Turn off ray tracing in ELDEN RING if it is enabled

Bandai Namco warns that ray tracing can affect frame rate and resolution. Its version 1.09 patch notes say to turn it off from the title menu or, in-game, through System → Graphics → Set Ray Tracing Quality → OFF. Ray tracing has separate, substantially higher listed requirements: its minimum tier includes an NVIDIA RTX 3060 Ti or AMD RX 6700 XT. Read the version 1.09 patch notes.

Experiment with other graphics settings carefully

The official sources cited here do not quantify the performance effect of lowering other settings or changing resolution. You can try those as troubleshooting steps, but change one setting at a time and check the result on your own PC; do not assume a particular FPS improvement.

When an upgrade might make sense

Base an upgrade decision on the specific game and the component that falls short—not on the “low-end” label alone. Any graphics-card suggestion also depends on whether it fits your desktop’s motherboard and case, whether the power supply can support it, the card’s condition, and your budget. For example, the GTX 1060 3GB appears in ELDEN RING’s minimum list, but that does not make it the best-value choice or a suitable fit for every PC; it is a legacy part and may not be available new.

What minimum requirements can—and cannot—tell you

Official requirement lists are useful for comparing named components and platform support. They do not, by themselves, show how a game performs below minimum specs, guarantee smoothness at minimum specs, or let you rank every Soulslike by how well it runs on old hardware. The reviewed listings provide no comparable measured frame-rate benchmarks.
