Not through the game’s documented free rewards. Blizzard says Mythic Prisms—the currency required for Mythic skins and their customizations—cannot be earned from the free Battle Pass or Challenges. Its documented routes are Premium Battle Pass progression or buying Prisms in-game, so neither is a free unlock path. Blizzard’s Mythic Shop FAQ explains the rules.
How Mythic Prisms work
Mythic Prisms are the currency used to unlock Mythic skins and their customizations. They are separate from Overwatch Coins and Credits: Blizzard says Coins and Credits cannot be redeemed for Prisms. Having free Coins or Credits therefore does not, by itself, let you buy a Mythic skin.
Documented ways to get Mythic Prisms
| Route | What Blizzard documents | Does it avoid spending money? |
|---|---|---|
| Free Battle Pass or Challenges | Neither awards Mythic Prisms, according to the Mythic Shop FAQ. | Yes, but it does not provide the required currency. |
| Premium Battle Pass progression | The FAQ says completing the Premium Battle Pass can award 80 Mythic Prisms—enough, under the system described there, to unlock and fully customize one Mythic skin. | No; this is the paid-pass route, and you must progress through the pass to earn its rewards. |
| Direct Prism purchase | The FAQ says Mythic Prisms may also be purchased in-game through Battle.net or the game platform’s store. | No; this requires a purchase. |
The 80-Prism figure and reward description come from Blizzard’s FAQ and may change if Blizzard revises the game economy.
Can waiting or an old Battle Pass make a Mythic free?
Waiting can change which past Mythic skins are available in the Mythic Shop, but it does not grant the Prisms needed to claim one. An old or Unvaulted pass is not a free workaround: Blizzard’s 2026 patch notes say Mythic skins and Mythic Prisms are among the rewards no longer obtainable in Unvaulted passes.

What about a free giveaway or event?
The official sources cited here do not establish an active free Mythic giveaway. That does not prove Blizzard will never offer a promotion; event rewards and terms can vary. Check the official announcement for a specific event before counting on it as a free route.
