Yes. You can play Kahoot remotely either by hosting a live game while sharing your screen in a video call, or by assigning a self-paced game that participants complete before a deadline. Kahoot calls live play across locations “connected Kahoot’ing.”
Choose live play or a self-paced assignment

This distinction matters: a live game is synchronous, while an assignment lets participants play independently. Kahoot’s instructions for remote hosting and web assignments describe both options.
How to host a live Kahoot remotely
- Choose a Kahoot and start a live game. Open a video-conferencing tool alongside the game. Kahoot documents Zoom and Microsoft Teams integrations and says other conferencing software can also be used. Its remote-hosting guidance also lists RingCentral Events.
- Enable questions on players’ devices. In the game lobby, open Game settings, turn on Show questions & answers on participants’ devices, choose an experience, and start the game. Kahoot’s current instructions are in its guide to showing questions on participant screens.
- Share the host’s screen in the call. Participants can answer on their own devices, but the host’s screen still matters: Kahoot says the scoreboard and correct answers appear only there.
- Send players the game PIN or join link. Share access directly with the intended group. Kahoot warns that publicly posting a PIN can invite unwanted players or bots.
- Manage the audio. Kahoot advises hosts not to speak over the timer music. You can wait for responses before speaking or mute or lower the game music.

When to use a self-paced assignment
Choose an assignment when participants cannot meet at the same time or need to complete the quiz on their own schedule. Set a deadline, then share the assignment by PIN, link, or QR code. Participants progress through questions at their own pace, and the questions and answers appear on their devices by default. Kahoot says participants do not need an account to join a web assignment.

What you need for remote play
- For live play: A supported desktop, laptop, tablet, or phone running a supported browser or app; a display or screen-sharing software; and a stable internet connection.
- For the call: A video-conferencing tool that lets the host share the game screen.
- Optional: A webcam can help participants see the host, but it is not required to answer questions and does not replace screen sharing or internet access.
Kahoot’s connected-play checklist names a webcam, conferencing tool, and screen sharing as tools for remote play. Its live-hosting guide also covers supported devices and connectivity.
Account limits and Microsoft Teams setup
Participant limits and some assignment features can depend on the account or subscription type. Check Kahoot’s current live-hosting guidance and the details for your account before inviting a large group; there is no single player limit that applies to every account.
