Yes, you can use TunnelBear while streaming on a supported computer or phone—but it is not a reliable choice for unlocking another country’s Netflix, Hulu, Disney+, or other streaming catalog. A VPN can route your traffic through a selected location, but streaming services may identify and block VPN connections. TunnelBear itself says that accessing geo-restricted content may not be the right use case for its service.
Will TunnelBear work with Netflix, Hulu, or Disney+?
It may work in a particular situation, but TunnelBear does not promise dependable access to these services or their foreign catalogs. Its support article, updated October 14, 2025, explains that streaming providers commonly block VPN traffic to enforce regional distribution rights. It also says that disguising traffic identified as VPN traffic can be difficult and resource-intensive, and that access to each provider is not always a priority.
TunnelBear Support puts its position plainly: “If you are looking strictly to access geo-restricted content, however, our Bears may not be the right choice for you.” The result can vary by streaming service, endpoint, region, and time; a successful connection today does not establish that the same catalog will remain accessible.
Using a VPN is not the same as unlocking a catalog
TunnelBear can route your connection through a location you select. That does not compel a streaming platform to treat your connection as local: the platform can detect and block VPN traffic. A list of countries or servers describes the VPN network, not which streaming catalogs will accept its connections.

TunnelBear’s location page, updated April 21, 2026, lists more than 8,000 servers in over 45 countries. City-level choices are available only with a monthly or yearly paid plan. Neither the server count nor the number of countries establishes access to a particular service or region.
Which devices can you use?
TunnelBear lists apps for Windows, macOS, Android, and iOS, browser extensions for Chrome, Firefox, and Edge, and limited Linux support. A supported computer or phone may be used to stream where the streaming service itself permits it, but that is not a guarantee of VPN catalog access.

TunnelBear does not support Apple TV or Android TV, gaming systems, or modem/router configurations. Its support information therefore does not establish a direct TV installation or a router setup as a workaround.
Is TunnelBear’s free plan enough for streaming?
TunnelBear’s Help Center says free accounts receive 2 GB of data per month, and unused data does not roll over. Video streaming consumes data, so that monthly allowance is small for regular viewing. TunnelBear says paid accounts have unlimited monthly data and that free and paid plans have the same performance levels.

The provider’s pricing page, accessed October 7, 2026, listed an Unlimited plan from $3.33 per month, alongside the free option. The paid price depends on the billing terms shown at purchase and can change, so check the current price before subscribing. Paying removes the stated monthly data limit; it does not make geo-unblocking reliable.

Choose it if your main purpose is TunnelBear’s privacy and security service and you only need to stream occasionally on a supported device, with the understanding that VPN use may be blocked by a platform. If your primary requirement is consistent access to a specific foreign catalog, TunnelBear’s own guidance makes it a poor fit to rely on.

When comparing VPNs for a named service, check current support for that exact service, region, and device rather than using server counts as a proxy. Also compare data limits and speed consistency. TunnelBear documents WireGuard, OpenVPN, IKEv2, and automatic protocol selection, but its published protocol information does not establish that switching protocols will defeat a streaming block. Its Terms of Service, revised December 5, 2025, also say speed and quality can vary and that continuous availability of the service or particular features is not guaranteed.
