Bluetooth audio support alone does not guarantee that a TV can pair with a keyboard, and support can vary by model, software version, app, and screen. Check the manual or manufacturer’s support page using your TV’s full model number before choosing a keyboard.
Check whether your TV supports keyboard input
Look up the full model number in the TV maker’s manual or support page and confirm that it supports Bluetooth input devices, not just Bluetooth audio. Also check whether the keyboard is supported and whether the feature requires a particular software version. Menu names and support can vary by model year and, in some cases, region.
Compatibility matters more than a keyboard’s general claim that it works with smart TVs. For example, LG documents Bluetooth keyboard support on selected models and lists the Logitech K480, Arteck HB030B and HB192, and Apple Magic Keyboard as examples for supported TVs. These are not universal recommendations: check the supported-device information for your own TV. LG’s connection guide and supported-peripherals list describe the conditions.
Pair a keyboard with your TV
Put the keyboard into Bluetooth pairing mode first. Then open the TV’s Bluetooth or input-device settings, select the keyboard when it appears, and confirm pairing if prompted. The exact path depends on the TV platform and generation.

LG webOS
On some LG models, go to Settings → All Settings → General → External Devices → Connect Bluetooth Controller. Older models may use similarly named Connection or Device Connection Settings menus. LG says Bluetooth input support is limited to some models, and some apps may not accept keyboard input. Check the guide for your exact set; menu paths can differ by generation. Samsung TVs
Samsung’s instructions use Keyboard Manager or Input Device Manager, depending on the model. Put the keyboard into pairing mode, then find it in the TV’s input-device settings. Some Samsung models may not support Bluetooth or USB keyboard and mouse input, so verify the specifications or manual for the exact TV. Google TV and Android TV
On Google TV, try Settings → Remote and accessories → Pair remote or accessory. Put the keyboard into pairing mode, select it from the list, and confirm Pair. Google documents this general Bluetooth-accessory procedure; it does not promise keyboard support on every Google TV or Android TV device, so confirm compatibility with the TV maker. If pairing or typing does not work
- The TV cannot find the keyboard: Check that the keyboard is in pairing mode and close to the TV. Disconnect unused paired accessories, then try again. Google also suggests restarting the Bluetooth device or power-cycling the TV if connection problems continue.
- The keyboard pairs but does not type everywhere: Test it in the screen or app where you need to enter text. Keyboard input may be limited by the TV model or app; LG explicitly cautions that some apps do not accept it.
- Bluetooth pairing is unavailable: Check whether the TV supports keyboard input over USB. Depending on the model, a wired USB keyboard or a wireless keyboard with a USB receiver may work. A USB port by itself does not guarantee support for keyboard input.
For Google TV or Android TV, a phone may be enough for occasional text entry: Google’s TV app can act as a remote on supported devices. See Google’s instructions for using the Google TV app to control a TV.

Choose the connection that your TV supports

Whichever option you choose, verify support for the precise TV model before buying; keyboard behavior can also differ between apps and screens.
