Yes. Open a shared Figma file and collaborators can work in it together in real time. People need both permission to edit and a seat that includes the relevant Figma product to change the file; people with view access can still take part through supported features such as comments, following, and cursor chat.
How to invite someone to collaborate
- Open the file and select Share. Invite people directly or share a link, then choose the access level they need. Figma sharing can be managed at the file, folder, and team levels, with permissions inherited or adjusted at a more specific level. See Figma’s guide to sharing and permissions and file and project permissions.
- For editing, check both access and seat. Permission controls whether someone can edit a resource; a seat controls which Figma products they can use. Edit permission alone does not let someone edit a Figma Design file if their seat does not include Figma Design.
- Have the invitee accept the invitation. They can then open the shared file with the access granted. Figma explains the invitation flow in Accept invitations.
What collaborators can do together
Edit the same file
People with the appropriate seat and edit access can change file content while others work in the same canvas. Their edits and presence are part of Figma’s multiplayer collaboration experience.
Follow people and see activity
Collaborators can see others’ cursors and follow them through the canvas. For performance, Figma may hide some cursors in a crowded file; at the cursor display limit, editors’ cursors are prioritized. Figma describes these behaviors in its multiplayer limits guidance.
Leave comments for lasting feedback
Comments let people attach feedback, questions, or notes to a location or object. In FigJam, people with view or edit access can leave and respond to comments. Unlike cursor chat, comments are the better option when others may need to find the message later. See Comments in FigJam.

Use cursor chat for quick, temporary messages
In Figma Design, people with view or edit access can type a short message that appears beside their cursor. Each message is limited to 52 characters and remains visible for five seconds after typing ends; Figma does not keep a cursor-chat log. Use a comment instead for feedback that should persist. Collaborate in FigJam and Slides
FigJam supports viewer interactions such as cursor chat, emotes, high-fives, following, and audio calls, alongside comments. Figma Slides also supports comments, audio chat, and cursor chat. See Figma’s guides to exploring FigJam files and working on slide decks together.

View access versus edit access

Available viewer interactions vary by product. For example, FigJam viewers have additional board interactions; do not assume every view-only feature is available in every Figma product.

Which collaboration feature should you use?
- Choose edit access when someone needs to change the file, and verify that their seat includes the relevant product.
- Choose view access and comments for review or feedback that should remain available.
- Use cursor chat for a quick, in-the-moment message in Figma Design—not for a record of decisions.
- For a large session, consider whether the file could approach the documented multiplayer thresholds.
