Devialet’s Mania is a reported example of room-aware sound optimization; the clearest public statement about AI across the company’s future products comes from CEO Jacques Demont, not Henri Hervé.
What Devialet’s AI does in the Mania
A March 17, 2025 interview in The National describes the Devialet Mania as using AI-powered 360-degree sound optimization to adjust output based on room acoustics. CEO Jacques Demont gives the example of the speaker analyzing the effect of a nearby wall and adapting its sound.

This is a reported product feature, not an independent test showing how much the sound improves in different rooms. It illustrates one practical role for AI in audio: adapting playback to the environment rather than asking the listener to tune the speaker manually.
What Devialet has said about AI
Demont told The National: “AI will be in every product in the future of this company because it will bring more technology, and we need to be at this level.” That is the CEO’s stated intention, not confirmation that AI has already been added to every product. It is also not a statement by Henri Hervé.

The exact Henri Hervé interview or statement implied by the original headline could not be verified from the available coverage. The evidence supports a narrower account of Devialet’s room-adaptation feature and Demont’s comments, rather than attributing the mainstream-audio thesis to Hervé.
Does room adaptation make premium sound mainstream?
Not by itself. A speaker that adjusts to its surroundings may make setup or listening more convenient, but that feature alone says nothing about whether the speaker is affordable, reaches a broad audience, or changes adoption of premium audio. The sources available do not quantify an effect of AI on price or adoption, and they do not provide an independent assessment of the Mania’s sound quality.

Devialet’s history offers examples of products at different price positions, but not evidence that AI caused prices to fall. Europe 1 reported in October 2018 that the Phantom Reactor was launching below €1,000. The article described miniaturization and price reduction as development challenges; that launch-era figure is historical, not a current price or proof of an AI-related price change.
Premium positioning in a current India example
In a September 25, 2026 report, India Today reported that the Devialet Phantom Ultimate 98 dB Pulse Blue was available for preorder through authorized retailers in India for Rs 2.4 lakh. The same report listed a matching tree stand at Rs 37,999. Those are India-specific reported prices for that model at that time; they should not be read as prices for other countries or as a current listing check.

The National’s 2025 article describes the Phantom series as reaching up to 108 decibels. That figure applies to the series description in that article, not to every Devialet product or to an independent comparison of sound quality.

A 2022 Tech.eu interview describes Devialet’s range as including speakers, amplifiers, wireless earbuds, and a soundbar, and says the company licenses some patented technology to other firms. A broader product range and technology licensing could provide routes for audio technology to reach more devices, but the interview does not establish a specific active partner program or show that licensing has made premium sound mainstream.
