An aggregator listing attributes the headline to How-To Geek, but it does not reveal what phone or GPU was used or how they were connected. No primary account from the builder, reproducible component list, or benchmark for the project was available. Treat the headline as a report of a claim, not a verified setup guide or a measured performance result. The aggregator listing does not supply the missing implementation details.
Why USB-C does not automatically mean eGPU support
USB-C describes a connector shape, not a guarantee that a device can communicate with an external GPU. Charging a phone or sending video through a USB-C port is different from providing the host connection an eGPU needs. A conventional eGPU setup depends on a compatible high-speed interface and PCIe tunneling, plus host-side GPU detection and suitable firmware and drivers. A port that charges a phone or outputs video does not establish that this complete path is supported. What must be confirmed before calling a phone an eGPU host?

- Operating system and drivers: whether the operating system can enumerate the GPU and whether usable drivers exist for that phone and workload.
- GPU hardware path: the enclosure, dock, module, or other hardware used, and whether it is supported by the host.
- Power: how the external GPU and phone are powered, and whether the arrangement supports the required power delivery.
- Actual workload: evidence that the external GPU accelerates an application on the phone, rather than merely charging the phone or sending video to a display.
The available account does not establish these details for the reported build, so no specific recipe or compatibility verdict can be responsibly supplied.
Does Khadas Mind Graphics show that a phone can use an eGPU?
No. Khadas documents Mind Graphics for Khadas Mind and compatible Windows computers with Thunderbolt 3 or Thunderbolt 4. Its support documentation separately describes charging a mobile phone over USB-C; that charging feature is not evidence of GPU acceleration on the phone, and the product is not identified as the hardware in the headline story.
