The deal was completed on October 4, according to CA’s SEC filing, and CA announced the completion publicly the following day.
What CA announced
CA said Arcot offered advanced authentication and fraud-prevention solutions delivered as on-premises software or cloud services. The announced $200 million price was an all-cash transaction value, not a per-user or product price. CA’s August 30, 2010 announcement described Arcot as a privately held company.

Why CA said it wanted Arcot
CA said Arcot’s technology would expand its Identity and Access Management portfolio with advanced authentication and fraud prevention, while supporting CA’s cloud-security strategy. In the completion release, CA executive Dave Hansen described identity and access control as a critical security concern. These statements explain CA’s stated rationale; they are not an independent assessment of the technology’s effectiveness.
CA’s fiscal 2011 Form 10-K later characterized Arcot as serving enterprise users and financial service providers, and said the acquisition enhanced CA’s identity and access management offerings. CA fiscal 2011 Form 10-K

What happened to Arcot’s technology after the deal
In February 2011, CA described Arcot-derived capabilities as part of its authentication offerings and connected the technology with CA SiteMinder. The announcement named these products and services:
- CA Arcot WebFort and RiskFort: on-premises solutions.
- ArcotID: a software credential.
- CA Advanced Authentication Cloud Service: a cloud service CA said had previously been known as Arcot A-OK for Enterprise.
CA also reported SiteMinder integration and mobile authentication features in that update. The announcement is historical product context, not confirmation that the same names, ownership, or services remain current. CA’s February 16, 2011 announcement

How large was Arcot’s reported reach?
CA attached different scale figures to its announcements at different dates. They are company-reported historical figures, not independently verified measurements:
- In August 2010, CA said Arcot solutions helped prevent fraud for about one million online credit-card transactions per day. 2010 announcement
- In February 2011, CA said technology driving its cloud security service verified 150 million identities and helped prevent fraud for approximately one million online credit and debit transactions each day. 2011 announcement
What the deal was—and was not
This was an enterprise-software and cloud-services acquisition, not a consumer hardware purchase. CA’s 2011 reference to customers exchanging hardware tokens for a software credential describes a customer transition option; it does not establish that Arcot sold those tokens or that a token was necessary to understand the acquisition.
