If images are missing from a BrowserCat screenshot, first check what the page rendered in that same browser session. The usual possibilities are that capture started too early, lazy-loaded images were never triggered, image requests failed or were blocked, or the site returned an access challenge instead of its normal page. BrowserCat documents taking screenshots with Playwright, but the official pages reviewed do not establish a BrowserCat-specific “wait for images” setting.
1. Check the page in the same session before capture
A screenshot records the page state at capture time. Before changing your code, inspect the page in the BrowserCat session immediately before taking the screenshot. Ask:
- Are the expected image elements present?
- Do their source attributes contain the expected URLs, or are they still empty placeholders?
- Does the page show broken-image icons, a consent overlay, or an access challenge?
- Does the page look different from an ordinary visit?

2. Wait for images or a reliable readiness signal
If the images appear after a short delay, the screenshot is likely being taken before the page is ready. Wait for the particular images you need, or for a stable page element that appears only after the relevant content is ready, then capture.

Browserless’s general screenshot guidance notes that a capture can happen before images finish loading and recommends waiting for images or a target element. That is guidance from a separate provider, not evidence of a BrowserCat setting. The BrowserCat documentation reviewed does not establish a dedicated missing-image wait option, so use the wait mechanism supported by the Playwright or Puppeteer version in your own project rather than assuming a BrowserCat-specific parameter exists. 3. Trigger lazy-loaded images by scrolling
Many pages defer image loading until an image approaches the viewport. A full-page screenshot does not necessarily cause every site’s lazy-loading code to fetch images below the fold. Scroll through the page sections containing the missing images before taking the final screenshot. If the screenshot must begin at the top, return to the desired position after triggering the loads.

4. Inspect failed image requests and altered page state
If waiting and scrolling do not help, inspect the image element’s current source and the corresponding network request in the same session. Look for failed responses or redirects, authorization requirements, hotlink protection, expired signed URLs, mixed-content or content-policy blocks, and challenge pages. These are diagnostic possibilities, not established BrowserCat defects: the BrowserCat sources reviewed do not attribute missing images to any one of them.

When the page shows a CAPTCHA, 403, or blank output
Treat a CAPTCHA, access-denied page, blank page, or substantially altered content as an access or automation-blocking issue rather than ordinary image timing. Browserless lists such outcomes as clues that a site may be blocking automation. That is a general clue, not a BrowserCat-specific guarantee, and neither a proxy nor a different browser service should be assumed to bypass a site’s controls. 5. Consider a proxy only when access depends on network location
A proxy may be relevant if the site serves images differently by region or IP address. BrowserCat supports configuring a third-party proxy, but says it does not provide a built-in proxy service; consult its third-party proxy documentation. A proxy is not the first fix for a screenshot taken too soon or for lazy loading that was never triggered.

BrowserCat says it supports Playwright, Puppeteer, and CDP-based libraries, and recommends Playwright for new users. Its quick start shows a Playwright screenshot workflow connected to a managed cloud browser.
