Playing the original PS4 game on a PC currently means using unofficial community software, such as a Linux project built for Bloodborne or a general-purpose PS4 emulator. Those methods can expose PC graphics and frame-rate options, but they involve extra setup and their compatibility and reliability vary. The PS4 edition remains the straightforward, supported way to play.
Is Bloodborne on PC?
There is no native PC edition identified in the official release sources. Sony’s PlayStation Store listing identifies Bloodborne as a PS4 game released on March 24, 2015; PlayStation’s launch announcement described it as exclusive to PS4 and confirmed its shelf and digital availability. PC access discussed here comes from unofficial community projects that run the original PS4 game, not from a Sony or FromSoftware PC release.
In 2026, PC Gamer quoted former Sony executive Shuhei Yoshida saying the absence of a release remained a “complete mystery” to him and expressing hope that one might come out. That was his personal uncertainty and wish, not an announcement or confirmation of a future port. PC Gamer’s 2026 report also described no PC release or PS5 version at the time of his remarks.

What PC performance options are documented?
bbport for Linux
The bbport project describes software for Linux x86-64 that runs the original PS4 executable using a game-specific runtime and a Vulkan renderer derived from shadPS4. Its README lists 30, 60, and 90 FPS modes; output resolutions up to 2160p; FSR upscaling; and toggles for effects including motion blur, depth of field, ambient occlusion, and antialiasing. These are project options, not guarantees that every setting works equally well on every system. See bbport’s project README.

The README reports roughly 90 FPS at 4K with FSR 4 Balanced and roughly 150 FPS at 1440p with FSR 4 Quality on an RX 7800 XT. Those figures are the project’s own reports for that named hardware and configuration, not an independent benchmark or a typical-performance promise. The project says its testing was limited to the author’s RX 7800 XT PC and a Steam Deck. It warns that the game may crash and notes NVIDIA memory-mapping issues with its experimental memory model.
General PS4 emulation
shadPS4 is a separate route from bbport, and performance statements about one should not be transferred to the other. A November 2025 PC Gamer report on shadPS4 version 0.12.6 described gains on its tested PC setup, while also noting setup complexity, instability, and additional mods used for stability. The report also discussed third-party Steam Deck testing. Its results describe that earlier build and particular setups, not a current universal PC-versus-PS4 benchmark.

There is no controlled, representative current benchmark here comparing PS4 performance with a range of PC systems. The practical takeaway is that community projects offer more configurable performance options, but the result depends on project version, settings, scene, and hardware; a single FPS number cannot fairly describe “Bloodborne on PC.”
What do you need to set up Bloodborne on PC?
bbport’s documented requirements
bbport’s README requires Linux x86-64 and a user-provided decrypted dump of Bloodborne version 1.09. It says the project does not include game files. That is a requirement of this specific project, not a claim about every PS4 emulator or every community method. The README also warns that crashes are possible and that testing has been limited, so users should expect more troubleshooting than with the official console release.

Windows status
The separate bbport Windows fork describes itself as work in progress and says it is not yet playable on Windows; its instructions direct users to the upstream Linux build. Its use of “port” means a build of the community software for this one game, not a rewrite of Bloodborne’s source code or an official PC edition.
Are controls and online features the same?
Controls
The official Store listing confirms DUALSHOCK 4 vibration but does not publish a complete button map. The reviewed project documentation does not establish one standard keyboard-and-mouse layout or universal controller mapping for PC. Check the instructions for the exact build you intend to use rather than assuming that a console control guide matches its bindings.

Online play and add-ons
On PS4, the Store lists one-player support and optional online play for up to five players with PlayStation Plus; it also says online features may be terminated at any time. The listing names The Old Hunters as a PS4 add-on and lists an Official Digital Guide add-on. Those are details of the official product listing—not evidence that community PC methods provide the same online services, DLC licensing, or save compatibility.

Choose PS4 for the supported, simpler experience
The official PS4 release is the sensible choice if you want the released product with its listed features and do not want to configure unofficial software. The Store says the PS4 game is playable on PS5, while warning that some PS4 features may be absent; that compatibility should not be mistaken for a dedicated PS5 edition or remaster.

Consider PC community software for experimentation
A PC method may suit you if you specifically want configurable resolution, upscaling, graphics effects, or frame-rate modes and are comfortable with technical setup and project-specific limitations. Confirm the current operating-system status, game-version requirements, and compatibility notes in the project’s own documentation. Do not treat reported performance figures as a guarantee for your hardware or presume online, DLC, or save behavior matches PS4.
Bloodborne’s features are the same question as platform support
The game itself centers on combat and the city of Yharnam, with online play and Chalice Dungeons among the features described by the official listing; The Old Hunters is a separately listed add-on. These are features of Bloodborne’s PS4 product. Whether a particular community build runs them correctly is a separate compatibility question, and the available project descriptions do not establish feature parity across all PC methods.
