Bloodborne can now run on some Linux PCs and Steam Deck through an unofficial community project called bbport, but Sony has not released a PC edition. The project is experimental, requires your own dump of PS4 game build CUSA03173 version 1.09, and does not include Bloodborne’s game files. A Windows-focused fork is still a work in progress and, according to its README, has not reached the game’s first frame.
What “Bloodborne is available on PC” actually means
bbport is a community-built project that runs the original PS4 version of Bloodborne on x86-64 Linux. Its maintainers describe it as a game-specific runtime rather than a general-purpose PlayStation 4 emulator: the game’s code runs on the PC CPU, while replacement runtime components handle PS4 system functions and a Vulkan renderer translates graphics. The renderer is derived from shadPS4 and extended for Bloodborne. See the bbport project documentation for its technical description and current instructions.

This is not an official Sony PC release. Sony’s US PlayStation product page identifies Bloodborne as a PS4 game. The project also says it is not affiliated with Sony Interactive Entertainment, FromSoftware, or AMD.
Which route can you use now?
| Route | Status described by its project | Platform | What to know |
|---|---|---|---|
| Upstream bbport | “Experimental, playable”; project reports play in several areas, but not a verified full play-through. | Linux PCs and Steam Deck | Requires a user-provided dump of Bloodborne CUSA03173 v1.09; the project provides no game files. |
| Windows-focused fork | Work in progress; its README says it does not reach the first frame. | Windows | Loader, runtime, and renderer reach game initialization, but the project does not describe it as playable yet. See the Windows fork README. |
These are not equivalent finished releases. If you want to try the project now, upstream Linux bbport or Steam Deck is the route its maintainers point to; the Windows fork’s status can change as development continues.

What you need before trying bbport
- A compatible game dump: the project specifically requires Bloodborne for PS4, title ID CUSA03173, version 1.09. Its README states: “No game files are included. You need your own dump of Bloodborne (CUSA03173, v1.09).” A PS4 disc may be the source for a dump, but buying a disc does not give you a ready-to-run PC copy; the project leaves obtaining and preparing the dump to the user.
- A Linux PC or Steam Deck: bbport is the upstream project’s Linux route. Its documentation includes a Steam Deck AppImage and device-specific recommendations.
- Expect experimental behavior: the project reports booting, save loading, sound, gamepad support, saving, and play through Hunter’s Dream and several Yharnam areas. It has not verified a complete play-through and warns that crashes remain possible.
Compatibility and performance limits
The project says its thorough testing has been limited to one Linux PC with an AMD Radeon RX 7800 XT using Mesa/RADV, alongside discussion of Steam Deck testing. These are maintainer reports, not independent compatibility results for the wider range of PC hardware.
bbport’s October 6, 2026 release notes say the experimental PC-style memory model does not work properly on NVIDIA; the project recommends using the older model there. The same notes recommend FSR 3 and 1280×720 output on Steam Deck, and FSR 3 with the new memory model disabled on NVIDIA. They also document remaining GPU-hang and stability issues. Treat these as project-specific settings and warnings, not a guarantee of performance on any particular device.

The October 6 notes also report that, during 13 minutes of teleporting, VRAM use changed from 3.8–7.3 GB to 4–5.5 GB after changes intended to release unused textures and memory blocks. The project reports Yahar’gul at 144 FPS with the old memory model and 152–155 FPS with the new one; it says the new model was tested only on the author’s RX 7800 XT and a Steam Deck. These figures come from the project maintainer, not an independent benchmark, and should not be generalized to other hardware.

No official Windows edition is established by these sources. The Windows-focused fork documents progress through initialization—including threads, memory allocation, audio, and shader compilation—but says it does not reach the first frame. For current playability, the project directs users to upstream Linux bbport or Steam Deck instead. Check the fork’s README for any later status change before relying on it.
