The Blink Mini 2 is a plug-in 1080p camera for indoor monitoring, with motion detection, two-way audio, infrared night vision, and a built-in spotlight for color night view. It can also be used outdoors, but only with Blink’s separately sold Weather Resistant Power Adapter for the stated IP65 weather resistance. Basic operation does not require a subscription or Sync Module; cloud storage and some features do depend on the storage option or plan you choose.
What the Blink Mini 2 offers
The Mini 2 is designed to stay connected to power rather than run on batteries. It uses the included USB-C cable and indoor power supply, and ordinary operation does not require a Sync Module. Blink lists video at up to 1920 × 1080 resolution and 30 frames per second, with H.264 encoding. These are manufacturer specifications, not independent test results.

The 3-foot minimum focus distance matters if you want to place the camera very close to an object. The wide listed field of view can cover a room from a suitable position, but the view and detection still depend on placement.
Alongside motion detection, the camera supports two-way audio and infrared night vision. Its built-in spotlight can provide color night view. Indoor or outdoor placement
Indoor installation
For indoor use, the Mini 2 needs an outlet and a Wi-Fi connection. The package includes a stand, mounting screws, indoor power adapter, USB-C cable, and quick-start guide. Because it is continuously powered, choose a position with access to power and a reliable 2.4 GHz Wi-Fi signal.
Outdoor installation
Blink says the camera’s IP65 weather resistance applies when it is used with the Blink Weather Resistant Power Adapter, which is sold separately. The included indoor power adapter is not the stated outdoor setup. Blink lists an operating range of -5°F to 113°F (-20°C to 45°C); that specification should not be read as a promise of performance outside the stated range. How to set up the camera
Setup requires the Blink app and a Blink account. Blink’s Mini 2 setup guide follows this general sequence:
- Connect the camera to power using the USB-C cable and indoor adapter.
- Open the Blink app and add the Mini 2 to your account.
- Scan the camera’s QR code in the app, or enter its serial number if prompted.
- Select your Wi-Fi network and enter its password.
- Wait for the camera to connect, then complete setup in the app.
- Mount or position the camera, open Live View, and check that the scene is framed as intended.
Test the view from the camera’s final position before relying on alerts. The fixed-focus range begins at 3 feet, and Blink advises checking the camera’s view in Live View after mounting.

Window placement and privacy controls
Blink cautions that the Mini 2 was not designed to function correctly through glass. A window can interfere with motion detection and reduce nighttime image quality, so a window-facing installation should not be treated as dependable. The setup guide describes turning off recording and infrared LEDs to reduce reflections when someone tests this arrangement, but says accuracy may still be lower. Mini 2 supports up to two Privacy Zones. These are areas masked from recording, distinct from Activity Zones, which are used to adjust where motion alerts are detected. To configure Privacy Zones, use the camera’s settings in the Blink app and draw the areas you do not want recorded. Blink explains the distinction and app steps in its Privacy Zones instructions.

Storage, subscriptions, and Live View
There are two storage routes: cloud storage through an optional Blink Subscription Plan, or local storage using a Sync Module 2. The Sync Module 2 is not necessary for ordinary camera operation; it is relevant if you choose the local-storage route. Confirm local-storage requirements and current plan terms for your location in Blink’s Mini 2 FAQ.
Blink’s FAQ lists up to 60 days of cloud storage for the US, Canada, Mexico, Australia, and New Zealand, and up to 30 days for the EU and UK. These are regional terms described by Blink, not universal retention periods; check the current plan details for your country before choosing cloud storage.

Without a plan, Blink says Live View defaults to 60 seconds and can be extended to five minutes by tapping Continue; Alexa-compatible viewing defaults to five minutes. Security updates
Blink states that the Mini 2 receives guaranteed software security updates until at least four years after the device is last available for purchase as a new unit on Blink’s websites. Because the endpoint depends on when Blink stops selling the device new, this is not a fixed calendar date. Blink’s technical specifications give the update commitment.
