It can provide keyboard, mouse, video, and virtual mass-storage access so you can work with a server or workstation before its operating system is running—for example, to enter BIOS or UEFI settings or reinstall an OS. Setup requires a video connection, a USB data connection to the computer, network access, and an appropriate power source. Its main trade-off is that BliKVM says v4 does not support H.264 mode and positions it primarily for LAN use.
What BliKVM v4 does
BliKVM v4 emulates a monitor, keyboard, mouse, and mass-storage device, then makes those controls available through a browser. Because it operates independently of the controlled computer’s operating system, it is intended for tasks such as checking firmware settings, troubleshooting startup problems, restarting a system, and installing an operating system without someone physically at the machine. BliKVM describes it as a Linux-based, open-source device and says the controlled computer does not need dedicated software installed. BliKVM v4 guide BliKVM GitHub README
This is hardware-level remote access, not a replacement for ordinary remote-desktop software once an operating system is running. Its value is being able to interact with the machine outside that operating system’s normal remote-access tools.
What the specifications mean in practice
The manufacturer’s datasheet lists an Allwinner H616/H313 SoC, 1 GB of RAM, HDMI input with HDMI loop-through, USB-PC emulation, ATX control, Wi-Fi and Bluetooth, microSD storage, and a 1.33-inch 240 × 240 LCD. It lists MJPEG compression and input video up to 4K at 30 Hz. These are published specifications, not independently verified performance results. BliKVM v4 datasheet
#1 Best Overall
- BliKVMv4 Allwinner KVM Over IP PoE HDMI Loop Out Process Control Operation and Maintenance for IPKVM
- - BliKVM v4 is a production-ready, plug and play KVM-over-IP device that offers professional users a convenient solution for remote server or workstation management.
- It is based on Linux and fully open source. With BliKVM, you can easily power on/off, restart your computer, configure UEFI/BIOS settings, and perform OS reinstallation using an emulated Mass Storage Device.
- BliKVM simulates a keyboard, mouse, and monitor, all accessible through a web browser, ensuring a seamless user experience.
- Its hardware-level access guarantees independence from specific remote ports, protocols, or services, making it a highly flexible and reliable remote management solution for professionals.
- HDMI input: carries the computer’s video to BliKVM for browser viewing.
- HDMI loop-through: lets the video signal continue to a local display, which is useful when a technician is also near the machine.
- USB-PC emulation: provides the keyboard, mouse, and virtual storage functions to the controlled computer.
- ATX control: supports power-button and reset control when connected to the computer’s front-panel header using the supplied adapter and leads.
- Serial console: the guide documents serial console access through the 5V port at a default baud rate of 115200. Using that port for console communication does not eliminate the board’s power requirement. BliKVM v4 guide
The datasheet lists dimensions of 100 × 134 × 44.4 mm, weight of 0.45 kg, operating temperature of 0–70°C, storage temperature of −20–60°C, and power consumption up to 15 W. Separately, the guide reports around 4 W in its example of loop-out with one web access; that scenario-specific figure should not be treated as the device’s maximum or as a universal measurement. Check the video and network fit before choosing v4
The most important caveat is video encoding and intended network use. BliKVM’s version comparison says v4 does not support H.264 mode and recommends v1, v2, or v3 when internet access is needed. The manufacturer characterizes v4 as its most comprehensive choice for LAN use. This is the manufacturer’s guidance; the comparison does not provide independent tests showing how a particular model will perform on your network. BliKVM version comparison

The comparison lists v4 input up to 3840 × 2160 at 30 Hz, along with HDMI loop-through, PoE, DC input, and serial-console features. It identifies v4 as Allwinner-based, unlike v1 and v2, which use Raspberry Pi CM4, and v3, which uses Raspberry Pi 4B. Earlier models have lower listed capture resolutions. Consider the actual remote-access path and encoding needs—not just the maximum resolution—when comparing models.
| Decision point | BliKVM v4 information |

What you need to install it
Plan for the connections that match your setup. The guide calls for one or two HDMI cables, Ethernet cable or cables, and a USB-C-to-USB-A cable for mouse and keyboard data, depending on the arrangement. The v4 package contents listed in the guide are the device, Wi-Fi antenna, ATX adapter board, ATX Dupont cables, rack mounting ears, screws, and silicone bumpers. Package contents and whether a power supply is included can change, so check the current product listing rather than assuming an accessory is in the box. BliKVM v4 guide
Choose a suitable power method
The datasheet lists three options: 5V 3A via the 5V/USB-PC arrangement, 12V 2A DC, or IEEE 802.3af PoE at 48V DC. The guide warns that a PC USB port alone may not provide the specified 3A, although power from the controlled computer may suffice in some configurations. Follow the documented arrangement for your setup; do not assume any USB port can supply enough current. BliKVM v4 datasheet BliKVM v4 guide

Use the v4-specific software image
BliKVM’s flashing guide identifies a separate Allwinner image for v4. Do not use a Raspberry Pi-based BliKVM or PiKVM image on the assumption that it is interchangeable; follow the v4 image instructions in the official OS flashing guide.
Independent reader supportYour contribution helps us test, update, and keep practical guides available for everyone.Connect the device to the computer
- Mount and power v4. Place it near the managed computer or in a rack, then use one of the documented power options appropriate to your installation.
- Connect video. Run HDMI from the computer’s video output to BliKVM’s HDMI input. If you want a local monitor to continue showing the signal, connect the HDMI loop-through as directed in the guide.
- Connect USB data. Use the USB-C-to-USB-A cable for the computer-side keyboard and mouse data connection. This is separate from choosing an adequate power source.
- Connect the network. Use Ethernet for the network arrangement described in the guide, or configure Wi-Fi if that better fits your deployment. For reliable remote administration, confirm that the device is reachable from the browser and network location you intend to use.
- Wire optional power and serial controls. If you need remote power or reset buttons, connect the ATX adapter board and Dupont leads to the appropriate motherboard header. If using serial console, follow the guide’s port and wiring directions and set the console to 115200 baud unless your target requires otherwise.
- Flash the v4 image and complete configuration. Use the separate Allwinner image and the guide’s instructions to prepare the device, then open its browser interface and verify video and input control before relying on it for unattended access.
Is BliKVM v4 the right choice?
V4 is a sensible candidate when you want a hardware-level KVM-over-IP device for LAN-based management, value the listed 4K-at-30-Hz input and HDMI loop-through, and can provide the required power and cabling. Its Allwinner platform means its software image is distinct from Raspberry Pi-based variants.
Compare other BliKVM versions if internet access is central to your use case or H.264 support is a requirement: BliKVM itself recommends v1, v2, or v3 for internet access and says v4 lacks H.264 mode. The manufacturer comparison can help narrow the feature differences, but it does not establish which model will perform best on a specific network or workload. BliKVM version comparison
