Bitfinex Securities’ published fee schedule sets a minimum capital-raise fee of US$100,000. In its example, a company raising US$5 million through a one-year bond calculates a US$20,000 fee at 0.4%, but the minimum applies instead—equivalent to 2% of the raise. That is an issuer charge, not the bond’s coupon or a borrower’s annual interest rate.
Why the US$5 million example incurs a US$100,000 fee
The schedule’s calculation is straightforward: US$5,000,000 × 0.4% = US$20,000. Because the calculated amount is below Bitfinex Securities’ published US$100,000 minimum for any capital raise, the issuer pays the minimum. The resulting fee is five times the formula amount and equals 2% of the US$5 million raised. Bitfinex Securities’ fee schedule gives this example for a one-year bond.
The 2% describes the fee as a share of the proceeds in that example. It is not a recurring annual rate, interest charge, or investor return.
What the fee applies to—and what it does not
The charge is for the issuer’s capital raise through Bitfinex Securities. It should be kept separate from three other costs or returns:

- Issuer fee: the platform’s capital-raise charge, subject to the schedule’s minimum and applicable calculation.
- Bond coupon: payments specified for the bond and potentially received by its investors.
- Borrower financing cost: the rate or other cost a business ultimately incurs when it borrows.
Those figures answer different questions. A platform fee equal to 2% of proceeds does not establish the bond’s yield or the borrowing rate faced by a business that may receive financing through a fund.
How Bitfinex’s fee schedule varies by instrument
The schedule does not apply the one-year bond example to every offering. It distinguishes between offerings without a maturity and those with one:

These are the schedule’s categories and example, not a universal estimate. The applicable fee depends on the instrument, amount, and term; issuers should check the current schedule and recalculate for their offering.
What Bitfinex says the capital-raise service includes
Bitfinex describes the capital-raise package as including document review for regulatory compliance, optional tokenization, marketing materials, and secondary-market listing without an additional listing fee. It also says issuers do not pay a withdrawal fee when receiving proceeds. These inclusions do not establish that every legal, compliance, or continuing-reporting expense is covered by the platform fee. The official fee schedule is the source for the stated package and charges.

Does tokenization make capital cheaper for small businesses?
Not on the evidence available here. In an October 2026 Bitfinex Blog article, Bitfinex CTO Paolo Ardoino framed an 80% reduction in companies’ costs to navigate regulation, list, and raise debt or equity over five years as an industry goal: “If in five years we cannot cut the cost for companies to go through the regulatory process, list and raise capital by 80 percent, we didn’t do a good job. Not as Bitfinex, but as an industry.” That is a target, not a measured result, and the source does not provide a like-for-like baseline demonstrating an 80% reduction in total issuance costs.
Ardoino also posed a comparison involving a Buenos Aires farming company generating US$50 million a year. That revenue belongs to his illustrative example; it is not an industry statistic or evidence of a specific company’s financing savings.

To establish whether a tokenized issue is cheaper, a comparison needs to hold the issuer, instrument, amount, maturity, and financing goal constant. It should account separately for document and compliance work, platform and listing charges, distribution, ongoing reporting, proceeds received, and any coupon or financing rate. Easier transfer or settlement alone does not prove a lower total cost or cheaper borrowing.

The same help page, dated October 11, 2024, lists a US$125,000-equivalent USDt minimum for primary issuance and different rules for secondary trading by regular and accredited users. These are program-specific access terms, not a universal Bitfinex minimum; prospective participants should verify the active tranche and the rules that apply in their jurisdiction. CryptoSlate’s October 6, 2026 report describes prior ALTERNATIVE issues, funding, repayments, and coupon payments. Such activity shows that the pooled issuance route has operated, but it does not establish cheaper borrowing for portfolio businesses.
