How to Pay for PlayStation Store Games Without a Credit Card

You can buy digital games on the PlayStation Store without entering a credit card. The most widely useful option is a region-compatible PlayStation Store gift card or wallet voucher: redeem it to add funds to your account, then use the balance at checkout. Other options—such as PayPal or locally supported payment services—depend on the country or region assigned to your PlayStation account.

Which payment methods can you use instead of a credit card?

Payment methods vary by PlayStation Store region, so check the options listed for the country or region associated with your account rather than assuming a method is available everywhere. PlayStation’s US payment-method page and UK payment-method page show that availability differs. Depending on the region, alternatives may include a PlayStation Store gift card, PayPal, Apple Pay, Venmo, Cash App Pay, Paysafecard, or certain mobile providers. How to buy a game with a PlayStation Store gift card

Check your account’s Store region. Use the country or region associated with your PlayStation account when choosing a voucher. PlayStation warns that a card from another country may not link to your account, and its US wallet terms describe prepaid value as country-specific.
Choose a compatible voucher. Buy a PlayStation Store gift card or wallet top-up intended for that region and currency. Read the listing’s redemption and regional terms before purchasing; do not assume a code sold in a different market will work.
Redeem the code. Follow the redemption instructions supplied with the voucher or shown by PlayStation for your device and account.
Use the wallet balance at checkout. Select the game and complete the purchase using the funds in your PlayStation wallet. If the balance does not cover the full price, check the checkout options available in your region for any permitted additional payment method.

Important wallet and voucher limits

Wallet funds are not cash. PlayStation’s US terms say wallet funds have no value outside PSN and can be used only for purchases through PSN Services or certain third-party services.
Refunds and transfers are restricted. The US terms state that funds added to a PSN wallet are generally non-refundable and non-transferable, except where the law requires otherwise. Check the applicable terms for your region and add only what you intend to spend.
Codes are region-sensitive. Confirm the voucher’s country or region and currency match the account before buying. Compatibility and redemption terms can vary by specific voucher.

What if you have a child account?

A child account cannot add its own payment method or wallet funds. Purchases use the family manager’s wallet and are subject to the child’s monthly spending limit, which PlayStation says is initially set to zero. What to do if a payment or card does not work

If a card payment fails, PlayStation recommends trying another payment method available to your account or using a PlayStation Store voucher. Its payment troubleshooting guidance is a useful starting point. For a voucher problem, first recheck its region and the code’s redemption terms; a voucher intended for a different country may not link to the account.

If you would rather use a payment service than wallet credit, first confirm that it appears among the options for your Store region. PlayStation’s US pages include information for PayPal and Apple Pay, but their availability and requirements should not be assumed for accounts in other regions.
