The best VPN for Salesforce is usually the one your organization manages and approves—not a consumer VPN chosen from a provider ranking. Salesforce IP controls may recognize a company VPN’s known public egress addresses, but whether those addresses permit or simplify login depends on how your Salesforce administrator has configured the org. Ask the administrator which access route and IP policy to use before changing VPNs or adding addresses.
What “best VPN for Salesforce” means
For Salesforce, VPN choice is primarily an enterprise access and configuration question. Salesforce Trailhead describes approved login IP addresses as usually including addresses belonging to a corporate VPN. That points to an organization-managed VPN with known, approved egress addresses—not an assumption that any commercial VPN will work. The recommendation follows Salesforce’s documented controls; it is not a compatibility test of VPN providers.
A consumer VPN may route traffic through an address your employer has not approved. Your Salesforce org may challenge the login, deny it under a profile restriction, or apply other organization policies. A provider’s advertised privacy or speed features do not establish that it meets your company’s access requirements.
Know which Salesforce IP control is in use
Salesforce has two relevant controls with different effects. Confirm which one your administrator intends to use before adding VPN addresses.

| Control | What it does | Effect outside listed addresses |
|---|---|---|
| Org-wide trusted IP ranges | Identifies locations from which users can sign in without an identity-verification challenge. | Users can still log in after completing a challenge, usually with a code sent to a mobile device or email. (Salesforce Help) |
| Profile-based login IP ranges | Limits logins for users assigned to a profile to its configured IP ranges. | A login from an address outside that profile’s ranges can be denied. (Salesforce Help) |
Salesforce describes trusted ranges as a way to avoid verification challenges, not as a blanket rule that blocks every unlisted address. A profile login restriction is the control that can deny access outside its specified ranges. Confusing the two can produce either unexpected challenges or unintended lockouts.
How to choose and confirm an access path
- Ask your Salesforce administrator which control applies. Confirm whether your org uses trusted IP ranges, profile-based login restrictions, or both, and whether there is an approved VPN or corporate network path.
- Confirm the VPN’s public egress addresses. The administrator needs the addresses users appear to connect from, not merely the VPN server’s private address. Ask whether those egress addresses are stable and approved for Salesforce access.
- Check all legitimate sign-in paths. The administrator should account for users’ normal locations, mobile access, and integrations before changing ranges. A restriction that covers office VPN traffic but omits a legitimate sign-in path can prevent access.
- Use the organization’s chosen identity-verification method. IP controls are one layer, not a substitute for multi-factor authentication (MFA). Salesforce lists registered U2F security keys among its identity-verification methods; whether a particular key works depends on the organization’s identity configuration.
- Test the intended behavior before relying on it. Verify that approved users can sign in from the expected network and that users outside a trusted range receive the expected challenge. Have an administrator plan recovery before enforcing profile restrictions.
Why a consumer VPN is not a safe default
Salesforce does not certify a consumer VPN as compatible with a particular org’s login policy. A consumer service may use addresses that are shared, change over time, or are not approved by the employer. Even if a login succeeds once, that does not show that the address is suitable for a persistent profile restriction or the organization’s security policy.

- 【AC1200 Dual-band Wireless Router】Simultaneous dual-band with wireless speed up to 300 Mbps (2.4GHz) + 867 Mbps (5GHz). 2.4GHz band can handles some simple tasks like emails or web browsing while bandwidth intensive tasks such as gaming or 4K video streaming can be handled by the 5GHz band.*Speed tests are conducted on a local network. Real-world speeds may differ depending on your network configuration.*
- 【Easy Setup】Please refer to the User Manual and the Unboxing & Setup video guide on Amazon for detailed setup instructions and methods for connecting to the Internet.
- 【Pocket-friendly】Lightweight design(145g) which designed for your next trip or adventure. Alongside its portable, compact design makes it easy to take with you on the go.

- 【Keep your Internet Safe】IPv6 supported. OpenVPN & WireGuard pre-installed, compatible with 30+ VPN service providers. Cloudflare encryption supported to protect the privacy.
If your employer explicitly permits a particular VPN, follow its instructions and ask whether its exit addresses are accepted. Otherwise, use the company-provided network or VPN. Do not add a personal VPN address to a corporate allowlist on your own.
Maintenance and Salesforce network changes
IP allowlisting requires ongoing administration: if the approved egress address changes, users can face challenges or, with a profile restriction, failed logins. Salesforce’s core-services guidance says allowing designated IPs is not its preferred or recommended method for preventing internet traffic intended for Salesforce from being hijacked or rerouted. For Hyperforce customers, Salesforce points to options such as mutual TLS (mTLS) or allowing domains. The appropriate choice depends on the organization’s Salesforce infrastructure and policy.

Salesforce’s trusted-IP guidance under Winter ’26 lists limits of 16,777,216 IPv4 addresses and 299 IPv6 addresses. These are published configuration limits, not recommended range sizes or security targets. Check Salesforce’s current guidance and your org’s circumstances rather than treating a large allowable range as a reason to permit more addresses.

- Organizational control: Is the service approved and administered by your organization?
- Known egress: Can administrators identify and configure its public egress addresses, and are those addresses stable enough for the policy?
- Coverage: Does the planned setup account for every legitimate user, mobile sign-in, and integration that needs access?
- Fit with Salesforce infrastructure: Does the organization intend to use IP ranges, or does its policy and Salesforce environment call for another approach?
- Recovery and maintenance: Who updates access controls if addresses or infrastructure change, and how will legitimate users regain access if a restriction is misconfigured?
No named VPN provider, speed result, current price, or Salesforce endorsement is established here. The practical choice must be made with the organization’s administrator and network policy.
