There is no single VALORANT graphics preset, crosshair, or sensitivity that guarantees clearer visibility or more consistent aim. Start by identifying whether your problem is low client FPS, a network issue, or a visual preference; then change one relevant setting at a time and compare it in a real match.
Start by identifying what is affecting your game
Before changing graphics, open Settings > Video > Stats and enable the performance graphs relevant to what you are experiencing. Riot recommends using these graphs to diagnose client and network performance. Its warning thresholds can vary by region or patch, so a brief indicator that quickly disappears is different from one that appears often or lasts.
- Low Client FPS: Your computer is rendering the game at a reduced frame rate.
- High Average Ping: The round-trip delay to the game server is high.
- Low Server FPS: The server is running at a reduced frame rate.
- Network problem: Persistent packet loss or brief disconnections may be involved. Enable incoming and outgoing packet-loss graphs to investigate.
Riot’s instability guide recommends trying a wired connection where possible for network trouble and lists network buffering as a troubleshooting option. Those steps address network symptoms, not a graphics-quality or crosshair preference. See Riot’s VALORANT Game and Network Instability Basics.
Which graphics settings should you change for low FPS?
First close competing applications and use the graphs to judge whether the system is CPU-bound or GPU-bound. Riot notes that lower-spec systems tend to be GPU-bound, while mid- to high-spec systems tend to be CPU-bound. If the CPU is limiting FPS, lowering visual quality may not help: Riot Performance Engineer Brian Fischer explained, “Because many of you are CPU bound, adjusting graphics settings may not help performance because the CPU is limiting FPS, not the GPU.”

If low client FPS persists, Riot specifically suggests trying lower values for Material Quality, Texture Quality, Detail Quality, and UI Quality. It also lists these effects as options to try disabling while troubleshooting: Improve Clarity, Experimental Sharpening, Bloom, Distortion, and Cast Shadows. These are diagnostic options, not a universal preset or proof that every player should turn them all off. Riot’s guidance is in its instability troubleshooting guide.
- Record what the performance graphs show before changing settings.
- Change one relevant graphics option, then play a match or repeat the same practice scenario.
- Compare client FPS stability and whether the image remains comfortable to read.
- Keep the change only if it helps your actual problem; otherwise restore it and test another option.
This one-change-at-a-time approach makes it easier to tell whether a setting helped. An empty practice range is not a guarantee of live-match performance: Riot notes that performance can vary with match activity, and Deathmatch may run worse than standard modes.

How to choose settings for visibility
Visibility is partly personal preference. Improve Clarity and Experimental Sharpening are reasonable options to compare if you want to assess image appearance, but Riot’s low-FPS troubleshooting list includes both among the effects to try disabling. That guidance does not establish that enabling either one improves visibility or that disabling it will look better for everyone.
Compare the image in situations you actually play: against different map backgrounds, during ability-heavy fights, and while tracking a moving target. Consider whether edges are easier for you to distinguish and whether the image feels comfortable to look at. Do not assume that a setting which looks sharper in one scene will be clearer everywhere.

How to set a crosshair you can see and track
VALORANT lets you customize crosshair color and adjust horizontal and vertical line lengths separately. Riot introduced crosshair customization changes in Patch 5.04. Try a color and geometry that remain easy for you to acquire against varied backgrounds, then compare how easily you can place and track it during play.
You can also copy the crosshair of a player you are spectating and import or export crosshair codes; Riot documented those options in Patch 4.05. Treat another player’s profile as a starting point, not evidence that the same crosshair will work for you. The official options make experimentation easier, but Riot does not identify one universally clearest color, size, or design.

What to know about sensitivity and aim consistency
The official guidance cited here does not establish a universal mouse sensitivity, DPI, or eDPI that improves aim for every player. Keep your sensitivity consistent while evaluating other changes; if you decide to adjust it, change it deliberately and give yourself time to judge the result rather than switching repeatedly between values. A graphics preset alone is not established as a way to make aim consistent.

Riot’s published PC specifications list three performance tiers: minimum at 30 FPS, recommended at 60 FPS, and high-end at 144+ FPS. These are Riot’s system tiers, not a promise that a given computer will hold that frame rate in every match or that reaching a tier will improve aim. A display’s refresh capability and the FPS your PC actually sustains are separate considerations. The 144+ FPS tier is useful context if you are evaluating a high-refresh-rate setup, but it does not establish that buying a particular monitor improves aim or that your system can maintain that frame rate.
