A running belt with a secure zip pocket is the simplest place to start if you want to carry toilet paper or wipes alongside keys, a phone, or other small essentials. Choose a hydration belt if you also need water and gels, or a larger trail belt for more storage. No product listing here specifies how much toilet paper fits, so compare the pocket’s usable dimensions with your packed item and test the loaded belt before a long run.

How to choose a belt for toilet paper and running essentials

Start with the item you actually plan to carry: a few folded sheets, a compacted roll, or a packet of wipes. Their packed dimensions differ, and a belt’s stated total volume does not tell you whether that item will fit in a particular pocket. Check the product’s dimensions where available, then try the packed setup with your phone, keys, and any other planned essentials.

  • For a small hygiene item and a few essentials: Look for a secure zip pocket and a fit that holds the loaded belt close to your body.
  • For water and fuel as well: Consider a hydration belt, checking bottle capacity and whether bottles are included.
  • For more storage: A larger running or trail belt may suit longer outings, but more stated volume does not guarantee a bulky roll will fit comfortably.
  • For damp-weather protection: Read the exact claim. “Water repellent” does not mean waterproof.

Some runners mention toilet paper or wipes among their long-run carry items in community discussions, but those reports are anecdotal and do not show how common the practice is or establish a best product: community discussion.

Running belts and hydration options compared

Product Published storage and hydration details Best fit for Important limits
ASICS Runners Waistbelt Two 300 ml bottles, one mesh pocket, one zip pocket, and an adjustable band. Short or moderate runs when you want bottles and a pocket for small essentials. ASICS does not state usable pocket dimensions or toilet-paper capacity. ASICS product page
Nike 22 oz Flex Stride One 22 oz bottle, a zip pocket, adjustable buckle, and built-in expanders. A simple hydration belt with space for small essentials. The page shows one customer review reporting a bottle leak while running; this is an individual report, not a verified product-wide finding. No toilet-paper capacity is specified. Nike product page
The North Face Run Belt 1 liter (61 cubic inches) of listed volume, a zippered main compartment, internal organization, and a water-repellent material description. A compact belt whose listing states volume and weather treatment. Water repellent is not the same as waterproof, and the listing does not specify toilet-paper fit. The North Face product page
Decathlon Kiprun Hydration Flask-Carrying Running Belt 0.8 L volume, two soft flasks up to 250 ml each, space for six gels, and seven hip-circumference sizes listed on the UK page. Runners who want hydration and organized gel storage in a fitted belt. The UK listing says the belt is not waterproof and warns that excess load can make contents less secure and more likely to jiggle. Decathlon UK product page
Brooks Cascadia Running Belt 2 L volume and four pockets; designed to carry a 500 ml soft flask, sold separately. Trail or longer-distance running when you want more storage and room for hydration gear. The larger volume does not prove that a bulky or full toilet-paper roll will fit comfortably. Brooks product page
Endorphin Belt Six storage areas, an adjustable 24–37 inch fit, and a hydration pocket designed for a 17 oz bottle and most soft flasks. Runners considering a belt with several storage areas and a hydration pocket. Its “no bounce” and sweat-proof descriptions are manufacturer claims, not independent test results. The page does not specify toilet-paper capacity. Endorphin product page

Which option makes sense for your load?

Small essentials, minimal extra gear

Choose a belt with a zip pocket sized for your packed hygiene item and other essentials. ASICS lists a zip pocket plus a separate mesh pocket, while The North Face gives a 1-liter overall volume for its Run Belt. Neither brand gives a toilet-paper capacity, so the actual packed fit remains the deciding check.

Water and small essentials

Compare bottle size, pocket access, and whether the bottle comes with the belt. ASICS lists two 300 ml bottles and Nike lists one 22 oz bottle. These are different setups, and neither listing establishes how much tissue fits alongside the bottle.

Water, gels, and a more organized load

The Decathlon Kiprun belt lists two flasks up to 250 ml each and space for six gels; its UK page also offers seven sizes based on hip circumference. The product page cautions that carrying more than the intended load can reduce security and increase jiggling. Brooks lists four pockets and 2 liters of volume, with a 500 ml soft flask sold separately, for a roomier trail-oriented option.

Check fit, bounce, and weather protection

Use the maker’s sizing instructions rather than assuming a belt fits by waist size alone. Decathlon’s UK listing specifies sizing by hip circumference. Once fitted, load the belt as you expect to run with it; an item that fits an empty pocket may shift or make the belt uncomfortable when other gear is added. Decathlon specifically warns that overloading its belt can make contents less secure and more likely to jiggle.

Do not infer waterproofing from a general weather-treatment phrase. Decathlon labels its belt “no waterproof,” while The North Face describes its Run Belt as water repellent. Those statements are not equivalent, and neither should be read as a promise that tissue or electronics will stay dry in every condition.

Pack toilet paper or wipes without guessing

  1. Choose the form you will carry. Folded sheets, a compressed roll, and a wipes packet have different packed sizes.
  2. Measure the packed item. Compare it with the usable pocket dimensions, not just the belt’s total volume.
  3. Load the other essentials too. Check that the pocket closes and that keys, phone, water, or gels remain secure.
  4. Test the belt in motion. Run with the intended load on a short outing before relying on it for a longer one.

A small resealable pouch can keep loose tissue together, but no particular pouch is established as necessary. The practical requirement is that the hygiene item fit securely in the pocket with the rest of your planned load.
