One free scan finds every outdated or missing driver and matches the right update for your exact hardware.Free scan · exact hardware matchThe best alternative depends on what you want to improve: choose the POCO X8 Pro Max for performance, the POCO X8 Pro for a smaller and potentially lower-priced phone, or look at Motorola and Samsung for different camera, size, and durability tradeoffs. There is no reliable global budget ranking for these models: prices vary by country and configuration, so compare the local price and storage version before deciding.
What the Redmi Note 17 Pro Max offers
The comparison starts with a phone built around endurance and a large display. Xiaomi India lists the Redmi Note 17 Pro Max with a 10,000mAh typical battery, 100W HyperCharge, a 6.83-inch 1.5K AMOLED display with refresh rates up to 120Hz, and a Snapdragon 6 Gen 5 processor. Its listed configurations have 8GB or 12GB RAM and 256GB storage. These are regional specifications, not a guarantee that every market sells the same configuration. Xiaomi India’s specifications and Xiaomi’s global product page should be checked for the relevant market.
In the comparison discussed by GSMArena, performance is a weakness relative to some alternatives. That makes the Redmi’s battery and charging strengths less decisive if your priority is a faster chip or more versatile cameras. The recommendations below follow those tradeoffs rather than treating one model as best for every buyer. GSMArena’s competition and verdict section discusses the alternatives.
Alternatives grouped by what matters most
For performance: POCO X8 Pro Max
GSMArena identifies the POCO X8 Pro Max as a performance-oriented option and notes its large battery. It is the clearest alternative to consider if you want stronger performance than the Redmi, while retaining an emphasis on battery capacity. The available comparison does not establish a like-for-like benchmark result or a current price across markets, so check the exact local model and configuration before buying.

- Read Before You Buy — No Video Output: These adapters support charging and USB 2.0 data transfer, but cannot transmit video signals. Except for standard USB webcams (which use USB data only), they are not compatible with HDMI/DisplayPort cables, video-capable USB-C hubs, or docking stations with video output.
- Convert USB-A Ports to USB-C: Designed to connect USB-C earphones, cables, flash drives, card readers, and other USB-C accessories to standard USB-A ports. Plug-and-play with no drivers or software required.
- Aluminum Alloy Housing: Built with a sturdy aluminum alloy shell that aids in heat dissipation and protects against daily wear and scratches. Designed to maintain a stable and secure connection.
- Compact & Travel-Friendly: The ultra-compact design allows the adapter to stay plugged into your device without blocking adjacent ports or adding bulk, reducing wear and tear on your original USB ports.
- 12-Month Warranty: Backed by a 12-month manufacturer warranty for peace of mind. Designed to meet strict quality control standards for reliable everyday performance.
For a smaller phone and a potentially lower price: POCO X8 Pro
GSMArena describes the POCO X8 Pro as smaller, with a smaller screen and battery than the Redmi, and as lower-priced while still performing strongly. It suits buyers who are willing to trade some screen size and endurance for a more compact option. “Lower-priced” is a comparison in the review context, not a promise that it costs less in every country or at current retail prices.
For screen quality, performance, and camera variety: Motorola Edge 70 Pro
GSMArena describes the Edge 70 Pro as offering a higher-quality screen, a faster chip, four 50MP imagers, and strong battery life. Its battery does not match the Redmi’s capacity, so it is a better fit if screen, performance, and camera versatility outweigh maximum battery size.

- What You Get: Anker USB-C Hub (5-in-1, 4K HDMI), welcome guide, 18-month warranty, and our friendly customer service.
For a thinner, lighter, cheaper Motorola: Motorola Edge 70
GSMArena characterizes the Edge 70 as thinner, lighter, and cheaper than the Redmi, but with less performance and no zoom camera. Consider it if portability and price matter more than zoom photography or peak performance; verify the local price and the particular configuration.
For performance and camera versatility: Samsung Galaxy A57
GSMArena considers the Galaxy A57 a good option for performance and camera versatility, while noting compromises in durability and battery life. It may suit buyers who value those strengths more than the Redmi’s large battery, but the comparison does not provide a complete cross-model durability test or a current local price.

How to choose by budget without guessing at prices
The sources do not establish a current, comparable price ladder for all five alternatives. Android Central gives the Redmi a $499 launch-price reference in its review context, and GSMArena also refers to a $500 launch price; neither figure is a current universal price or a basis for assigning every alternative to a global budget tier. Android Central’s review provides its launch-price context.
- Compare the local price first. Check the same retailer or market and note whether a listed amount is a launch price, promotion, or current regular price.
- Match storage and RAM. The Redmi India listing specifies 8GB or 12GB RAM with 256GB storage. Compare equivalent configurations where available; a cheaper price for less memory or storage is not a direct comparison.
- Choose your tradeoff. Start with performance (POCO X8 Pro Max), compactness (POCO X8 Pro), screen and camera variety (Motorola Edge 70 Pro), portability (Motorola Edge 70), or a performance-and-camera balance (Galaxy A57).
- Confirm regional details. Check the model sold in your country for network compatibility, software-support terms, durability rating, charging specification, and included accessories. The cited comparisons do not provide a complete like-for-like account of those details for every model.
Battery, water resistance, and regional details to verify
Xiaomi India’s Redmi listing includes an adapter, USB-C cable, SIM tool, and protective case, but Xiaomi cautions that accessories can differ by region and packaging version. Do not assume that another market’s box contains the same charger or accessories.

Xiaomi’s global page describes an Underwater Mode, but states that the mode does not extend water resistance. Its described use is limited to static freshwater up to 2m for up to 30 minutes, and Xiaomi recommends a professional waterproof case. This is not a blanket assurance for swimming, salt water, moving water, or other water activities; check the local product terms and do not treat an IP rating as universal protection.
Xiaomi’s August 27, 2026 launch announcement says the REDMI Note series passed 500 million shipments worldwide over its 12-year history and describes a six-year longevity commitment. Those are Xiaomi’s own claims, not independently verified comparative evidence for these alternatives. Xiaomi’s announcement distributed via PR Newswire gives the company’s wording and context.
