Does Nintendo Switch Sports have accessibility settings?
Nintendo’s official FAQ and update history document a few settings that affect particular sports, rather than a single game-wide accessibility or comfort menu. They do not establish a complete inventory of current accessibility options. For any other control or display choice, check the current in-game Options menu rather than assuming that a setting exists.

The update history lists Ver. 1.5.0, released July 9, 2024, as the latest version on that support page. It adds Basketball and lists general fixes; this is the latest version shown there, not an independently verified version for every region or distribution channel. The same history records Golf Shot Assist in Ver. 1.3.0 (November 28, 2022), and Soccer Leg-Strap Mode and a Soccer camera change in Ver. 1.2.0 (July 26, 2022). How do I turn on Shot Assist in Golf?
- Open Options → User Settings → Other.
- Choose Shot Assist for Golf.
- Use it in Play Locally or Play with Friends. In Play Globally, the setting returns to Normal.
Nintendo added Shot Assist to make Golf easier for beginners. Its mode limitation matters: it is not a setting that carries into global matches. The menu path and behavior are documented in Nintendo’s update history.

How do I use the leg strap in Soccer?
Leg-Strap Mode uses a thigh-mounted Joy-Con for Soccer controls. The selection steps depend on the play mode:
- Play Globally: highlight Soccer on the sport-selection screen and press X.
- Play Locally or Play with Friends: on the screen showing how to hold the Joy-Con controllers, press +.
Nintendo says Joy-Con 2 controllers are not compatible with the Leg Strap. The accessory is designed for Nintendo Switch Sports and Ring Fit Adventure. Check Nintendo’s Nintendo Switch Sports FAQ and Leg Strap attachment instructions for the documented mode and setup details.

Fit the Soccer Leg Strap
- Insert a left Joy-Con into the holder with its control stick facing outward.
- Place the strap at the center of either thigh, with the top of the Joy-Con pointing toward your body.
- Secure it so it does not slip, but do not overtighten.
- If it becomes loose while standing, re-tighten it without overtightening.
Can you play Nintendo Switch Sports sitting down?
The cited Nintendo material does not establish whether sitting down is supported across the game or its sports. It also does not confirm a general motion-free option. Check the controls and prompts for the particular sport and mode you plan to play; do not assume that the Leg-Strap option or Golf Shot Assist removes motion controls.

Compatibility varies by sport. Nintendo lists play with paired Joy-Con, a single Joy-Con, and Joy-Con plus Leg Strap; Switch Pro Controllers are incompatible. The game does not support Handheld Mode. How can you make play more comfortable and safer?
- Allow adequate room around you while playing, as advised on Nintendo’s game overview.
- Be aware of your surroundings. Nintendo’s safety booklet also says, “When playing with a Joy-Con detached from the console, make sure to use a Joy-Con strap accessory.” These are manufacturer safety instructions, not evidence of a medical benefit or a prescribed amount of floor space. - Keep the two accessories distinct: the thigh Leg Strap enables a specific Soccer control mode, while a Joy-Con strap accessory is for securing a detached controller during play.
