Monster Hunter Now is the closest currently available mobile match for Monster Hunter Rise: it has real-time monster hunts and turns the materials you collect into weapons and armor. Its main trade-off is that it ties exploration to the real world and is built around short, tap-controlled encounters rather than a traditional Rise-style campaign. Monster Hunter Stories offers a different, RPG-focused take, while Monster Hunter Outlanders is announced for October 29, 2026, and is not yet playable as of October 7, 2026.

Which mobile hunting game is most like Monster Hunter Rise?

Monster Hunter Now is the strongest verified choice if you want action hunts on a phone and equipment crafting from monster materials. Capcom describes the series as “hunting action games that pit players against giant monsters in beautiful natural environments” in its September 14, 2023 launch announcement. Now brings that hunt-and-gear loop to mobile, but reshapes it around real-world exploration and quick encounters.

Capcom said Monster Hunter Now launched worldwide on iOS and Android on September 14, 2023, as a free-to-play real-world hunting action RPG with in-app purchases. Its Google Play listing, updated October 1, 2026, describes large-monster hunts with a 75-second target, solo and group play, and crafting weapons and armor from materials. The 75 seconds is a design target in the listing, not a measured average or a guarantee that every hunt takes exactly that long.

Exploration is tied to the real world, and the controls are simplified and tap-based. The official game site describes a roster of over 50 monsters at the time it was accessed; that count can change. Choose Now if you are comfortable with location-based play and want a mobile adaptation of hunting and gear progression, rather than a self-contained Rise campaign.

How the mobile Monster Hunter options compare

Game Status as of October 7, 2026 Why it may appeal to Rise players Main difference
Monster Hunter Now Current iOS and Android listing Real-time hunts, solo or group play, and equipment crafting Location-based outdoor exploration, tap controls, and short encounters
Monster Hunter Stories Current smartphone listing Monster Hunter setting and monsters, approached through a story-driven RPG Focuses on recruiting and bonding with monsters rather than Rise-style action hunts
Monster Hunter Outlanders Announced for October 29, 2026; not yet released on the research date Capcom describes it as “Survival Hunting Action,” with exploration, monster hunting, companions, and mobile-optimized controls Availability, regional access, and device compatibility must be checked after launch

Monster Hunter Stories: a role-playing alternative

Monster Hunter Stories is worth considering if you want more of the franchise on your phone but are open to a different combat and progression style. Its smartphone edition centers on recruiting and bonding with monsters, making it an RPG alternative rather than a direct substitute for Rise’s action hunts.

The Google Play listing, updated March 24, 2026, says the smartphone edition carries the handheld version’s story, though some features are absent. Network Battle ceased to be available on March 31, 2020, so do not choose the phone release for that feature.

Monster Hunter Outlanders: an upcoming option

Capcom announced Monster Hunter Outlanders for iOS and Android on October 29, 2026. Its September 29, 2026 announcement describes it as “Survival Hunting Action,” with exploration, monster hunting, companions, and controls optimized for mobile. Because that date is after October 7, 2026, the game is upcoming—not an app you can download today.

Capcom’s notice says the mainland Chinese version is scheduled from 2027 onward. Elsewhere, check the local app store and device requirements after launch; the announcement does not establish availability for every country or phone.

What to check before choosing

  • Combat: For action hunts, start with Monster Hunter Now. Choose Stories only if you want an RPG centered on recruiting and bonding with monsters.
  • Where you play: Now ties exploration to real-world locations, so it suits players willing to play outdoors and move around.
  • Hunt format: Now is designed for short encounters; its store listing gives a 75-second target for large-monster hunts, not a guaranteed duration.
  • Progression: Now explicitly uses materials from hunts to craft weapons and armor. The phone version of Stories has a different RPG focus.
  • Availability and cost: Capcom described Now as free-to-play with in-app purchases at launch. Check your local store for current availability, pricing, and device compatibility; these can vary by country.

Are there other current mobile games like Monster Hunter Rise?

The best-supported phone recommendations here are Monster Hunter Now for current action hunting, Monster Hunter Stories for a franchise RPG, and Monster Hunter Outlanders as an announced future option. A broader list of purported alternatives would risk including games whose current availability, region support, or similarity to Rise is not established.
