For a practical PC starting point, keep your display at its native resolution and intended refresh rate, turn VSync off if responsiveness is the priority, and lower shadows, effects, foliage, and post-processing first. Those are guide-based recommendations, not a guaranteed FPS preset: the right balance depends on your hardware, resolution, patch, and tolerance for tearing or visual changes. Measure the result in a demanding match and keep the clearest settings that meet your frame-rate target.
Start with a balanced PC baseline
Marvel Rivals does not have one best setting combination for every PC. A setting that improves performance on one system may have little effect on another, and lowering image quality too far can make combat harder to read. Use this sequence as a starting point, then make one change at a time.
- Check your display first. In Windows and the game, confirm the monitor is set to its native resolution and intended refresh rate. Turn on the in-game FPS display, if available, or use a trusted performance overlay. A high-refresh-rate display can show more frames only when the PC renders them; it does not raise the game’s rendered FPS. NVIDIA’s feature page refers to 120 Hz, 144 Hz, and 240 Hz targets: NVIDIA’s Marvel Rivals features.
- Reduce the likely performance and clutter costs first. Lower shadows, effects, foliage, and post-processing. These are recommendations from third-party guides, not results from a universal benchmark. Their visual impact varies, so check whether you can still read opponents and abilities clearly.
- Keep textures as high as your system can handle steadily. There is no defensible texture tier without knowing your graphics card and video memory. If higher textures cause unstable frame times or memory pressure, lower them and compare again.
- Try an upscaler only if native resolution misses your target. Use DLSS, FSR, or another upscaling option only when the game offers it for your hardware. Inspect moving combat, fine edges, and distant targets; a still image may not reveal blur or artifacts.
- Test in a busy fight. Note average FPS and dips, then keep the clearest configuration that meets your goal. Change only one setting at a time so you can tell what helped.
Steam lists a GTX 1060, AMD RX 580, or Intel Arc A380 as minimum graphics hardware, and an RTX 2060 Super, RX 5700 XT, or Intel Arc A750 as recommended. Both tiers list 16 GB of RAM and DirectX 12; Steam recommends an SSD. Those are system requirements, not promises of a particular frame rate: Marvel Rivals on Steam.
Which graphics settings should you lower first?
Third-party guides commonly recommend reducing shadows, effects, foliage, and post-processing to pursue higher performance and less visual clutter. Treat that list as a sensible order for experimentation, not proof that each option has the same cost on every PC. After each adjustment, check both frame pacing and whether enemy silhouettes, ability effects, and the surrounding scene remain readable.

- Mechanical Switch Button Tensioning: A metal spring tensioning system and metal pivot hinges are built into left and right computer gaming mouse buttons for a crisp, clean click feel with rapid click feedback
Resolution is a more direct clarity-versus-performance choice. Native resolution usually preserves the image best, while upscaling may help when the PC cannot meet its frame-rate target at native resolution. Compare quality in motion before settling on an upscaler preset.
PCGamesN’s 2025 guide illustrates why its FPS figures should not be treated as general expectations: on its own 1080p test system, it reported an average of 141.9 FPS and a 1% low of 84.3 FPS with its low-oriented setup. On that same system it reported averages of 110 FPS at Medium, 100 FPS at High, and 85 FPS at Ultra. These results describe that publication’s hardware and settings, not what another player should expect. At 1440p and 4K, using the guide’s low-oriented settings on its test machine, it reported respectively 114.9 FPS average with a 50.7 FPS 1% low, and 83 FPS average with a 22.5 FPS 1% low. Should VSync be on or off?
VSync off is a reasonable starting point when responsiveness is the priority. If you notice distracting screen tearing, test VSync on and compare the feel and frame pacing in a representative match. Guides differ on display-option recommendations, so there is no universally right choice established here.
A frame cap is another option to test if frame pacing is unstable or you prefer a steadier presentation. Change one option at a time and compare the result in an actual fight, rather than choosing by the menu label alone.

Does DLSS or frame generation help?
DLSS Super Resolution can reduce the rendering workload on supported NVIDIA hardware, while frame generation can increase the number of displayed generated frames. These are different functions: a higher displayed frame count does not by itself establish that controls feel more responsive. For competitive play, treat frame generation as optional and judge responsiveness and visual artifacts in motion.
NetEase’s patch notes dated February 21, 2025, said: “NVIDIA DLSS 4 is available now, featuring DLSS Multi Frame Generation for GeForce RTX 50 Series GPU.” The same notes said Radeon Anti-Lag 2 was supported on RX 5000 series or newer and that FSR3 frame pacing was fixed. Performance tuning will not fix every stability problem. In a June 24, 2025 NVIDIA notice, NetEase recommended GeForce Game Ready Driver 576.80 or later at that time and described crashes for RTX 40- and 50-series users when Hardware-accelerated GPU scheduling was disabled under driver 572.40 onward. This is historical advice, not the newest driver recommendation in October 2026. Why visibility can change after a patch
Not every visibility problem comes from a graphics option. PC Gamer reported on July 16, 2026, that NetEase had made visual-effects changes intended to reduce battlefield chaos.
