The right choice depends on your device’s exact model, Fire OS version, and the launcher’s requirements. Start by checking those details: installing a launcher, opening it yourself, and making it launch automatically instead of Amazon’s home screen are three different outcomes.
First identify your Fire TV model and software version
“Older Fire TV” is not one compatibility category. Amazon’s device documentation associates some first-generation and earlier devices with Fire OS 5 and Android API 22, and many 2018 devices with Fire OS 6 and API 25; other models use different baselines. Amazon also says older devices generally are not upgraded to newer Fire OS versions, so the model’s actual software version matters more than its age alone.
- On the Fire TV, open Settings > My Fire TV > About (on some models, the device information is under Settings > Device & Software > About). Record the model name and Fire OS version shown on screen.
- Use Amazon’s Fire TV device specifications to identify the model and its documented software/API association.
- Compare the launcher’s stated minimum Android/API version and processor architecture with your device before installing it. Amazon’s Appstore compatibility guidance explains why API levels and device capabilities affect whether an app can run.
Amazon describes Fire OS as an Android fork and says Android apps will “most likely” run on Fire devices, but that is not a promise that every Android TV feature or replacement-home-screen mechanism will work on Fire TV. An app may install and open while still failing to behave as a full home-screen replacement.

Projectivy Launcher: the most clearly described interface
Projectivy’s vendor page describes a customizable Android TV home screen with flexible layouts, shortcuts, wallpaper choices, and direct app-launch features, and says it is optimized for older hardware. Those are vendor claims, not an independent Fire TV benchmark. Its compatibility answer names Android TV devices, smart TVs, projectors, set-top boxes, and Android TV boxes, but does not expressly name Fire TV. Treat it as an option to verify on your exact device rather than confirmed Fire TV support.
The vendor says the core app is free, while some advanced personalization features require a one-time Premium purchase. Basic use does not require that purchase; check the vendor’s purchase page for current terms rather than assuming a price.

LTvLauncher: check the APK architecture and release notes
The developer’s releases page provides universal, 64-bit ARM, and 32-bit ARM APKs and labels the 32-bit ARM build for Fire TV Stick models that include older devices. That makes LTvLauncher a concrete candidate for a device-specific compatibility check, not proof that it will work on every Fire TV or outperform the alternatives. Confirm the exact model, architecture, and current release notes on the LTvLauncher releases page.
Wolf Launcher: treat community reports as a lead
A community reply says Wolf Launcher works on Fire OS 6.x, but does not identify the tested release or a device model. That individual report is not a guarantee for other Fire OS versions or devices. The available compatibility evidence does not settle current support across Fire OS 5, 6, or 7.

Installing a launcher is not the same as replacing the home screen
Check which of these outcomes you actually want; evidence for one does not establish the others:
- Install: the app is present on the device.
- Open manually: you can start it from the apps list or a shortcut.
- Launch automatically: it opens instead of, or on top of, Amazon’s home screen when the device starts or the Home button is pressed.
Do not assume that successfully installing or opening a launcher makes it the default. A Projectivy community discussion describes delay or fallback after a Fire TV home-launcher update; that is an individual experience illustrating possible software-change risk, not a universal outcome. No model-matched, current primary instructions here establish a reliable boot or default-launch method across Fire TV generations, so verify any instructions against your exact model and firmware before relying on them.

Choose by compatibility evidence, not an unsupported speed ranking
- If you want the most feature detail: investigate Projectivy, but first account for the fact that its published compatibility wording does not expressly name Fire TV.
- If you have an older Fire TV Stick and can identify its architecture: check whether the 32-bit ARM LTvLauncher release matches, then review that release’s notes.
- If considering Wolf Launcher: treat the Fire OS 6.x report as anecdotal and verify the specific app version and device rather than assuming it applies to Fire OS 5 or 7.
- If automatic startup is essential: confirm that behavior separately from app installation; no universal guarantee is supported for these launchers.
App and firmware support can change with releases. Recheck the device information and the launcher’s current compatibility notes before choosing.
