For debugging LangGraph agents, shortlist Langfuse if you want a documented LangGraph integration and OpenTelemetry-based tracing, Arize Phoenix if you want trace inspection alongside evaluations and experiments, and Braintrust if you want to carry trace findings into feedback, evaluation, and production monitoring. Compare them with LangSmith, which provides run inspection and operational features as well as cloud, hybrid, and self-hosted setup choices. The right fit depends on your instrumentation, deployment, and evaluation needs—not a universal “best” ranking.

What to look for in a LangGraph observability tool

Agent debugging starts with a trace that lets you follow a run through its meaningful steps: model calls, retrieval, tools, and application logic. From there, consider whether the product can help you turn a discovered failure into feedback, an evaluation case, or a monitored change.

  • Instrumentation: Is there a documented LangGraph integration, or will your team need to build and maintain custom instrumentation?
  • Trace navigation: Can you inspect the sequence of work that led to an incorrect or failed result?
  • Evaluation workflow: Can a trace inform repeatable tests or evaluation datasets?
  • Deployment and data control: Does the available hosting model fit your operational requirements?
  • Portability: Does the tool support OpenTelemetry or OTLP workflows, and what mapping work would still be needed?

OpenTelemetry support is an instrumentation consideration, not a guarantee of identical trace schemas, user interfaces, retention, or migration effort. Confirm the integration path with the exact LangGraph code and versions you run.

How the main options differ

Option What its documentation establishes Best reason to evaluate it
Langfuse Its integrations catalog lists LangChain and LangGraph. Langfuse describes itself as based on OpenTelemetry and documents Python and JavaScript/TypeScript SDKs or an OpenTelemetry endpoint. Langfuse integrations Start here if documented LangGraph coverage and portable instrumentation are priorities. Check the actual setup, schema mapping, hosting, and commercial terms for your use case.
Arize Phoenix Phoenix documents traces covering model calls, retrieval, tools, and custom logic; OTLP intake; and auto-instrumentation for LangChain. It also documents evaluators, prompt iteration, span replay, datasets, experiments, and self-hosting options. What is Arize Phoenix? Evaluate it when trace debugging and iterative evaluation should be part of one workflow. Verify LangGraph-specific coverage and operational requirements for your stack.
Braintrust Its getting-started documentation describes capturing traces, analyzing logs, annotating with feedback, evaluating changes, and monitoring production. Get started with Braintrust Consider it when investigations should feed into feedback, datasets, and recurring evaluation. Confirm framework instrumentation, hosting choices, and current service limits.
LangSmith LangSmith documents run and thread views, dashboards and alerts, automations, feedback collection, and cloud, hybrid, or self-hosted setup choices. LangSmith Observability Use it as the incumbent baseline, comparing its fit and operating terms with alternatives rather than assuming it only offers tracing.
OpenTelemetry instrumentation Langfuse documents an OpenTelemetry-based approach; Phoenix documents OTLP intake. OpenTelemetry itself provides its documentation at opentelemetry.io/docs. Assess it as an architecture and portability criterion. It does not by itself determine trace quality, semantic conventions, retention, cost, or migration effort.

Choose based on the debugging workflow you need

For a documented LangGraph integration

Langfuse is the clearest documented starting point in this comparison for teams looking specifically for LangGraph integration: its integrations catalog lists LangGraph, and it describes OpenTelemetry-based tracing. Confirm the integration instructions against your framework version and decide whether its endpoint or SDK approach suits your deployment.

Elebase USB to USB C Adapter for iPhone 18 Pro Max,USBC Car Charger Adapter
  • Read Before You Buy — No Video Output: These adapters support charging and USB 2.0 data transfer, but cannot transmit video signals. Except for standard USB webcams (which use USB data only), they are not compatible with HDMI/DisplayPort cables, video-capable USB-C hubs, or docking stations with video output.
  • Convert USB-A Ports to USB-C: Designed to connect USB-C earphones, cables, flash drives, card readers, and other USB-C accessories to standard USB-A ports. Plug-and-play with no drivers or software required.
  • Aluminum Alloy Housing: Built with a sturdy aluminum alloy shell that aids in heat dissipation and protects against daily wear and scratches. Designed to maintain a stable and secure connection.
  • Compact & Travel-Friendly: The ultra-compact design allows the adapter to stay plugged into your device without blocking adjacent ports or adding bulk, reducing wear and tear on your original USB ports.
  • 12-Month Warranty: Backed by a 12-month manufacturer warranty for peace of mind. Designed to meet strict quality control standards for reliable everyday performance.

For trace inspection tied to evaluation

Phoenix documents both detailed trace inspection and a workflow involving evaluators, prompt iteration, span replay, datasets, and experiments. That combination is relevant when diagnosing an individual run is only the first step and you also want to assess whether a change improves behavior. Its documentation’s LangChain auto-instrumentation and OTLP support do not, by themselves, establish identical LangGraph-specific coverage; verify the path for your application.

For taking trace findings into production monitoring

Braintrust describes a progression from capturing and analyzing traces to annotation, evaluation, and monitoring. Evaluate whether its instrumentation and hosting options match your LangGraph deployment before choosing it on the strength of that workflow description.

For a baseline that includes operations beyond traces

LangSmith’s documented feature set includes run and thread views, dashboards, alerts, automations, and feedback collection, as well as multiple setup models. It is useful as a comparison point even when the goal is to consider alternatives: compare the complete workflow and deployment fit rather than only the trace viewer.

How to make a practical shortlist

  1. Map your current run: Identify which steps must be visible to diagnose failures, such as model calls, retrieval, tools, and custom logic.
  2. Check the exact instrumentation path: Confirm whether the vendor documents LangGraph integration for your stack or whether you would need custom instrumentation. Do not treat broad LangChain or OpenTelemetry support as proof of equivalent LangGraph coverage.
  3. Decide what happens after diagnosis: If you need repeatable evaluation, prioritize documented evaluation, dataset, replay, or feedback workflows—not trace capture alone.
  4. Test portability assumptions: For OTel or OTLP, verify how your application’s spans map into the product and what work a future migration would involve.
  5. Validate operational fit: Check the hosting model, data terms, retention, limits, and current commercial conditions directly with the vendor for your region and expected workload.
  6. Compare with representative trace volume: Use current vendor pricing and a realistic workload estimate. The cited documentation does not provide a comparable price basis across these products.

What the available documentation does not settle

The documentation cited here supports a feature-oriented shortlist, not a universal ranking or a claim that the products have equivalent LangGraph coverage. It does not establish a complete current comparison of pricing, trace limits, retention, data residency, licensing boundaries, or service terms. Those details can change and should be confirmed directly before a deployment decision.
