Tinder is the clearest fit if you want friends involved in choosing or meeting potential matches. Its Matchmaker feature brings friends and family into the dating process, while Double Date lets you pair up with a friend to match and chat with other pairs in select markets. Bumble offers a different kind of help: you can share another member’s profile with a friend, but Bumble says you cannot request a recommendation for your own profile.

Which dating apps let friends help with matches?

App or feature How a friend is involved What to know
Tinder Matchmaker Friends and family can be involved in assessing potential profiles as part of the dating journey. Tinder describes Matchmaker as a way to involve friends and family. Its newsroom announcement does not establish the current invitation flow, so check the feature in your app. Tinder’s announcement
Tinder Double Date You and a friend pair up to match and chat with other pairs. Tinder Help lists Android, iOS, and web support in select markets; it is not available everywhere. Check Tinder’s Double Date help page
Bumble Recommend to a Friend You share another Bumble member’s profile with a friend using a link. The recipient needs a Bumble account to view the profile. Bumble says the member whose profile is shared is not notified, and you cannot currently request recommendations for your own profile. Bumble’s instructions
Bumble Discover No friend input: Bumble suggests profiles based on its own signals. Suggestions draw on profile information and prior matches. “Recommended for you” is an app-generated feature, not a friend’s selection. Bumble Discover details

How Tinder uses friends in dating

Matchmaker: get another perspective

Tinder positions Matchmaker as a way for friends and family to take part in your dating journey and weigh in on profiles. That makes it the most direct fit here if you want someone else’s opinion while choosing whom to consider. Tinder’s cited newsroom page does not spell out the current invitation steps, so use the feature’s in-app prompts rather than relying on an assumed setup.

Double Date: meet people as a pair

Double Date is a different use of friends: you pair with a friend and interact with other pairs, rather than simply sending a profile to someone for an opinion. Tinder announced the feature on June 17, 2025, describing it as a way for a user and friend to match with other pairs. Tinder Help says it is available on Android, iOS, and web in select markets. Check the feature in your region and on your platform before planning around it.

How Bumble lets you share a profile

Recommend someone else to a friend

Bumble’s Recommend to a Friend feature lets you send another member’s profile to a friend through a generated link. Bumble says you can send that link by text, email, or another messaging app. The friend needs a Bumble account to view the profile, and the person whose profile you shared is not notified, according to Bumble Support.

You cannot request a recommendation for yourself

Bumble Support, last updated January 15, 2026, states: “There’s no way to request a recommendation just yet.” In other words, this feature lets you point a friend toward someone else; it is not a way to ask your friends to review your own profile or select prospects for you.

Friend recommendations are not the same as app suggestions

Bumble Discover can surface profiles using information in your profile and your past matches, including people with similar interests, dating goals, or communities. Bumble says four new people are highlighted in “Recommended for you.” Those suggestions are generated by Bumble; they are not profiles chosen by your friends. If friend input is the deciding factor, look at Tinder’s friend-involvement features or Bumble’s profile-sharing link instead.

Choose based on what you want your friends to do

  • Want a second opinion on a prospect? Tinder Matchmaker is the clearest feature to explore, though its current mechanics should be confirmed in the app.
  • Want to go on the matching experience with a friend? Consider Tinder Double Date, if it is available in your market.
  • Want to send a profile you found to a friend? Bumble’s Recommend to a Friend shares another member’s profile by link.
  • Want suggestions selected by your friends? Do not mistake Bumble Discover for that: its recommendations are generated from app signals.

Feature availability and instructions can change, and Double Date is limited to select markets. Check the relevant feature in your app and the official help page before counting on it.
