Start with Cyberpunk 2077’s For This Mac preset. It selects graphics settings and resolution for your Mac rather than applying one configuration to every Apple silicon model. For a 1080p display, keep the output resolution the preset assigns and leave MetalFX Dynamic Resolution Scaling (DRS) enabled; treat Ray Tracing as an optional manual upgrade, not the baseline.

Why For This Mac is the best baseline
The preset is hardware-dependent: CD PROJEKT RED says, “The more powerful your hardware is, the higher the applied settings are.” It is therefore safer than copying a settings list made for a different chip, memory configuration, or display. The developer’s M2 Max Mac Studio example—High graphics, 1920×1080, MetalFX DRS, and a 60 FPS target—is useful as an illustration of what a higher-tier Mac may receive, not a promise for all Apple silicon Macs.
For a 1080p monitor, the practical goal is to preserve the preset’s assigned output resolution and frame-rate target, not to force a higher resolution simply because the game allows it. CD PROJEKT RED warns that increasing resolution can significantly affect FPS and recommends using the preset-assigned resolution on external displays.

What MetalFX Dynamic Resolution Scaling does
DRS lets the game vary its internal rendering resolution within set bounds while retaining a chosen output resolution and FPS target. In practice, it trades some image sharpness in demanding moments for more stable frame times. The output can remain 1920×1080 even when the internal render resolution temporarily drops below that.

Apple’s WWDC26 presentation describes the preset targeting either 30 or 60 FPS and using MetalFX DRS with minimum and maximum resolution bounds. The game also selects output resolution, V-Sync, and HDR based on the device and display. Its M5 Max demonstration used an internal range of 50% to 80% of output resolution; that is a device-specific example, not a recommended range for every Mac. Apple’s WWDC26 presentation.
Adjusting the setup if the image or motion bothers you
If motion feels inconsistent
Keep DRS enabled and use the preset’s target rather than raising resolution or disabling scaling first. Frame rate can vary with scene load, chip variant, display resolution, power and thermal conditions, and game updates. Developer targets are not independent benchmark guarantees.

If the image looks too soft
Try a small increase to the minimum DRS scale, or test a fixed render mode, then check the result in a demanding location. Make one change at a time and watch both image clarity and performance; these are manual troubleshooting suggestions, not settings CD PROJEKT RED has validated across all Macs.
Check V-Sync and HDR for your display
Apple identifies V-Sync and HDR as additional per-device tuning choices. HDR only makes sense when the connected display supports it. If you use an external monitor, begin with the resolution assigned by the preset before experimenting with other output resolutions.

Should you enable Ray Tracing?
Ray Tracing is off by default, including on Macs that can use it. CD PROJEKT RED says it is available on M3 or newer chips with at least 16GB of unified memory. To enable it, open Settings → Graphics and select a Ray Tracing quick preset or switch on individual options. The official RT Medium starting profiles are:
- 30 FPS target: M3 Pro with 18GB, at 1800×1125 or 1920×1080, with MetalFX DRS enabled manually.
- 60 FPS target: M3 Max with 36GB, at 1800×1125 or 1920×1080, with MetalFX DRS enabled manually.
Those profiles do not establish recommended RT settings for every M-series chip or every Ray Tracing quality level. If your Mac does not match either profile, retain the non-RT preset as the known starting point rather than assuming another model’s target will transfer.

Check Mac compatibility and storage before installing
CD PROJEKT RED’s Mac support page requires macOS 15.5 or later and an SSD; HDD installation is unsupported. Its listed storage requirements are 92GB for GOG, Epic Games Store, or Steam, and 159GB for the App Store version. Extra temporary space may be needed for downloads, installation, or updates. The page lists these hardware tiers:

The Mac Ultimate Edition launched digitally on July 17, 2025, through the Mac App Store, GOG, Steam, and Epic Games Store. CD PROJEKT RED’s launch announcement says it includes the base game and Phantom Liberty and supports Apple silicon models with at least 16GB unified memory and macOS 15.5 or later.
