Troubleshooting common failures
The capture command does not appear

The image is blank or missing lines
Reduce the selection to a short test, make sure the file has finished rendering, and recapture. If only very long selections fail, split the code into smaller images and check whether a configured width or transparency setting is causing the rendered content to blend into the background.
Copy to clipboard does nothing on Linux
Install xclip for X11 or wl-clipboard for Wayland, confirm the session type, restart VS Code, and test again. Save to disk as a fallback.

Line numbers do not match the source
Enable the real-line-number option rather than display-relative numbering. Reopen the capture after changing the setting and verify that the first selected line is the expected source line.
The extension changed after an update
Read the new changelog and compare settings. If the output must remain reproducible, install the previously approved version or a reviewed VSIX and disable automatic updates for that extension according to your team’s policy.
Telemetry is unacceptable
