Diablo IV is the strongest all-round pick for friends who want fast action, shared loot and a long-running endgame. For four-player groups, start with Minecraft Dungeons II if you want flexible couch and online play, or Ravenswatch if you prefer replayable roguelike runs. The right choice depends on whether you want to share a sofa, play online, or build characters together over a campaign.
This shortlist uses official PlayStation game and store listings accessed October 4, 2026. “Dungeon crawler” is used broadly here for games centered on exploring dangerous spaces, fighting enemies and developing characters or collecting loot. The recommendations are feature-based, not hands-on reviews; current availability and some co-op details can vary by region.

Which PS5 dungeon crawler should you choose?
Diablo IV: best all-round action crawler
Choose Diablo IV if your group wants real-time combat, loot and a continuous action-RPG loop rather than short, self-contained runs. Its PlayStation listing describes an open world with a campaign, Nightmare Dungeons and World Bosses. It supports couch co-op for two players, online parties of up to four, cross-play and cross-progression. That combination makes it the clearest starting point for a pair playing locally or friends connecting across platforms. The listing says PS Plus is required for online play.
#1 Best Overall
- Hundreds of Magic Cards - Your cards are your arsenal. Split the ground open with earthquakes, hurl white-hot fireballs, and summon powerful allies to eliminate your foes.
- Six Characters - Choose an adventurer, getting a signature starting deck that guides your initial play-style. Regardless of your initial decision, you may branch out and create any deck you want in the game.
- Dungeon Crawling - Venture into any of the six unique dungeons in the world. In doing so, learn the tricks of each of the area's monster, make adjustments to your deck, and seek specific cards. As you explore dungeons, you'll have the opportunity to either dive deeper or return to the Town to secure your spoils. Be careful not to dive too deep and lose your loot!
- Elaborate Deck Building - Whether you're a power gamer looking for the strongest and most broken cards, the lab scientist who loves testing out novel audacious combos, or the completionist, who yearns to 100% their card collection, you'll find something to love with the deck building system.
- Adventurer's Town - Prepare for your next adventure while exploring the beautiful Adventurers' Town. Acquire more cards and unlock new ones by opening boosters. Talk to NPCs and initiate challenging quests, or simply take your time fishing! Minecraft Dungeons II: best for flexible group play
Minecraft Dungeons II released for PS5 on September 29, 2026, according to its PlayStation page. It is the most explicitly flexible option in this shortlist: the listing names couch co-op, online co-op, mixed co-op and matchmaking, with one to four local players and up to four online. That makes it a strong candidate when the group may mix people in the same room with friends joining over the internet. The listing describes it as an action-packed dungeon crawler.
Ravenswatch: best for roguelike replayability
Pick Ravenswatch if you would rather replay changing runs than follow one continuous campaign. PlayStation describes a top-down roguelike action game with randomized maps, talents and items. Its listing supports co-op and matchmaking for up to four players. The changing runs and build experimentation are the appeal; this is a different rhythm from a persistent campaign-and-endgame game such as Diablo IV.
Rank #2
- Recover the “darkness” hidden deep within the labyrinth.
- Use the “Switch Boost” system to defeat hordes of monsters.
- Create magical doors, ladders, and bridges to escape the labyrinth.
Minecraft Dungeons: accessible four-player alternative
Minecraft Dungeons is a lighter entry point built around the Minecraft universe and inspired by classic dungeon crawlers. Its PlayStation Store listing supports up to four players in co-op. It also notes that PS5 play may require a system update. Because that listing does not distinguish local from online capacity, verify the current regional page for the specific way your group plans to play.
Do these 3 things before closing this tab:
1Scan for outdated or missing drivers - takes under a minute2Repair Windows errors before they cause bigger problems3Fix the driver behind crashes, sound loss and screen glitchesPath of Exile 2: best for detailed builds
Path of Exile 2 suits players who want character-building to be a major part of the game, not a quick step between fights. Its PlayStation listing describes 12 character classes, 240 Skill Gems and more than 100 unique bosses. Those are feature counts on the listing, not measures of comparative quality. Couch co-op, cross-play and cross-progression are listed; the page does not state a player capacity.
Rank #3
- Wizardry: Proving Grounds of the Mad Overlord is a full 3D remake of the first game in the legendary Wizardry series of RPGs.
- Wizardry: Proving Grounds of the Mad Overlord is built directly on top of the original 1981 game's code.
- Party management, navigation, spellcasting, and combat have all been significantly enhanced.
The PlayStation page accessed October 4, 2026 describes Path of Exile 2 as a premium early-access title and says free-to-play is planned for full release, with the date to be announced. Check the live listing for current release status and price. Its mechanics are explicitly deep, so it is a better match for a group willing to learn character systems than for someone seeking the easiest first crawler.
Baldur’s Gate 3: best for story-led, turn-based co-op
Baldur’s Gate 3 is worth considering if your group values story, tactical decisions and character choices more than fast action. It is a cinematic, turn-based D&D adventure rather than a real-time loot crawler. The PlayStation listing supports two local players and up to four online, alongside tactical combat and loot. It also says PS Plus is required for online play.
Rank #4
- Mediterranean Horror: Explore the forsaken capital of an awe-inspiring archipelago. Do not let yourself be fooled by the gentle sea breeze, the Mediterranean vistas or the comforting summer sun. Since the Devil's Fevers pandemic ravaged the city, it was abandoned, and now only horrific nightmares await there.
- Survive your Nemesis: Someone is relentlessly hunting you. Suffer and agonize while you try to run away from the encounters with this strange stalker obsessed with you.
- Intense Challenges: Solve environmental riddles, physics puzzles and other similar challenges in an interconnected vertical world. Even while being chased and hunted.
- Accessibility and Photomode: Tweak more than 20 Accessibility settings to create a tailored experience for you. Use the Photomode to make perfect shots and unlock many secrets using it.
Dungeons 4: best for managing a dungeon together
Dungeons 4 is a genre-edge pick, not a hero-centered loot crawler. PlayStation classifies it as strategy; two players can manage one dungeon together online, including campaign and skirmish maps. Choose it if the fun for your group is building and managing a dungeon alongside overworld action, rather than exploring as adventuring heroes.
Best PS5 dungeon crawler for couch co-op
For local play, the strongest choices depend on how many people will share the console. Diablo IV lists one to two local players, Path of Exile 2 lists couch co-op without a capacity on its page, and Baldur’s Gate 3 lists one to two local players. Minecraft Dungeons II is the clearest option for a larger sofa group because its listing specifies up to four local players.

If you need an extra controller for a local group, PlayStation presents an additional DualSense controller as an optional way to expand couch multiplayer setups; it is not a requirement for every game in this list. See PlayStation’s DualSense controller page.
Online co-op dungeon games on PS5 for four players
For online parties, Diablo IV and Baldur’s Gate 3 list up to four players, as do Minecraft Dungeons II and Ravenswatch. The first two also list local play, but their local limit is two. Minecraft Dungeons II gives the clearest mix-and-match description: it supports couch, online and mixed co-op as well as matchmaking. Ravenswatch lists matchmaking, which can help when you do not have a full group of friends ready.
Path of Exile 2 lists couch co-op, cross-play and cross-progression, but the PlayStation page accessed October 4, 2026 does not state its player capacity. Do not infer a group size from the presence of those features. Check the current listing before arranging a session.

How to choose the right co-op format
- Playing beside one friend: Diablo IV or Baldur’s Gate 3 explicitly list two-player local play. Choose Diablo IV for real-time action and loot, or Baldur’s Gate 3 for turn-based story and tactics.
- Four players on one PS5: Minecraft Dungeons II explicitly lists up to four local players. Do not treat another game’s four-player online limit as a local-player count.
- Mixing local and remote friends: Minecraft Dungeons II explicitly lists mixed co-op. The cited pages for other titles do not establish that same arrangement.
- Want matchmaking rather than a pre-made party: Minecraft Dungeons II and Ravenswatch list matchmaking.
- Want cross-platform play: Diablo IV and Path of Exile 2 list cross-play. Check the live game page for any current platform or account conditions.
- Need to budget for online play: The PlayStation listings for Diablo IV and Baldur’s Gate 3 say PS Plus is required for online play. Do not assume that requirement applies to every game here; check each game’s current regional store page.
What to verify before you buy
Co-op labels can conceal important differences: couch versus online play, matchmaking, mixed local-and-online parties and the number of players on one console are separate details. Before buying, open the game’s live PlayStation Store listing for your region and confirm its current price, availability, edition, PS5 compatibility, local and online player limits, and any online subscription requirement. This is especially useful for Minecraft Dungeons II, released September 29, 2026, and Path of Exile 2, whose page describes an early-access status and a future free-to-play full release without an announced date.
Which dungeon crawler can you play with a friend on PS5?
For two friends who want to play on the same console, Diablo IV and Baldur’s Gate 3 list local co-op for up to two players; Path of Exile 2 also lists couch co-op, though its page does not give a capacity. For friends playing online, Diablo IV and Baldur’s Gate 3 list parties of up to four, while Minecraft Dungeons II and Ravenswatch also support up to four online. Pick based on whether you want action, turn-based storytelling, flexible group modes or repeatable roguelike runs.
