Best Buy will match an eligible current price from a qualified competitor when the product is identical by brand, model number, and color, new, and immediately available. For an online order, request a match through Best Buy chat or by phone; for an in-store purchase, ask a Customer Specialist or the Customer Service desk. The U.S. policy is effective September 2, 2026, and exclusions apply.
What qualifies for a Best Buy price match?
Best Buy compares its current pre-tax item price with a current public price from a seller on its Qualified Competitors list. The price and item must satisfy all of these conditions:

- Identical product: The brand, model number, and color must match exactly; a similar model is not enough.
- New and available now: The product must be new and immediately available for shipping or store pickup from the competitor. Best Buy’s item must also be immediately available.
- Sold by an eligible seller: The Best Buy item must be sold by Best Buy, not through Best Buy Marketplace. Third-party Marketplace Seller listings on either Best Buy or a competitor site are excluded.
- Eligible offer: The competitor must be on the current qualified-seller list, and the lower price cannot be an excluded promotion or listing type.
- Public, current price: The comparison is to a current pre-tax price available to all customers. Best Buy allows one match at the time of purchase, per identical item, per customer.
The competitor roster can change, and the official page retrieved for this article did not expose the full roster. Check it when you make your request rather than relying on an old list.
Which prices and products are excluded?
Best Buy’s policy excludes many offers, including:

- Pricing errors, preorders, liquidation sales, trade-in offers, and rent-to-own offers
- Service prices and special daily or hourly sales
- Competitor prices from the Thursday before Thanksgiving through the Monday after Thanksgiving
Best Buy compares the item price before tax and does not include shipping or delivery charges in an online price comparison. The policy may be amended and may be tested in select locations, so review the live terms before requesting a match.
Does Best Buy price match Amazon?
Do not assume that every Amazon listing qualifies. Check whether the seller is on Best Buy’s current Qualified Competitors list, then confirm that the listing is sold by an eligible seller rather than a third-party Marketplace Seller. The exact product, its immediate availability, and the offer type must also meet Best Buy’s rules. The current list and the listing itself should be checked when you request the match.

How to request a price match
For a BestBuy.com or app order
- Contact Best Buy through online chat or call 1-888-BEST BUY (1-888-237-8289) while purchasing or during the return and exchange period.
- Provide the competitor’s current ad or webpage showing the lower price. Best Buy will review and verify the price and availability.
- If the order has already been received or picked up, open Order Details and select “See details” to check price-match availability.
The purchaser must make an online chat request. For a shipped order after purchase, the requester must be the purchaser named in the order’s “Bill To” section. An online order cannot be price matched in a store or by email. App purchases and BestBuy.com orders picked up in a store count as BestBuy.com purchases under the policy.
For an in-store purchase
- Ask a Customer Specialist or visit the Customer Service desk while purchasing or during the return and exchange period.
- Show the current competitor ad or webpage with the lower price. Best Buy will review and verify the request.
What if Best Buy lowers its own price?
If Best Buy lowers its in-store, online, or app price during the return and exchange period, it says it will match its lower price upon request. For an item scheduled for delivery, Best Buy’s FAQ says to call about the lower price before delivery.
