You can request a Best Buy price match before buying, or ask Best Buy to honor its own lower price during the return and exchange period. Best Buy does not promise automatic price-change alerts for ordinary purchases, so checking a listing or order and submitting a request is the practical way to track a possible drop. The current Price Match Guarantee policy is effective September 2, 2026.
What “tracking” a Best Buy price change means
Best Buy says prices can change during the day and vary by store, region, website, app, and sales channel. Its pricing information does not describe a general automatic alert service for ordinary purchases. To monitor a particular item, recheck its current listing; if you already ordered or picked it up, also check the order’s details for a price-match option.

There are two different requests: matching a qualified competitor’s current price, and asking Best Buy to match its own lower price. The timing and method depend on where and how you bought the item.

Check whether the lower offer qualifies
Compare the actual item listing—not just a similar product or search result—against Best Buy’s item and policy. Best Buy’s Price Match Guarantee requires the same brand, model number, and color; the product must be new, immediately available, and sold by Best Buy or an eligible competitor itself rather than a marketplace seller. The lower offer must still be active when Best Buy reviews it.

- Confirm identity and condition: Match the brand, model number, color, and new condition. Open-box, refurbished, pre-owned, and clearance offers are excluded.
- Confirm seller and stock: The product must be available for immediate purchase. Marketplace sellers on otherwise qualified sites, out-of-stock listings, and limited-quantity offers do not qualify.
- Check the competitor: The seller must appear on Best Buy’s Qualified Competitors list. The list page is effective May 11, 2025; verify the current live list before making a request. It includes Abt, Amazon, Apple, B&H Photo Video, BJ’s Wholesale Club, BrandsMart USA, Costco, Crutchfield, Dick’s Sporting Goods, Home Depot, Lowe’s, Menards, Micro Center, Nebraska Furniture Mart, P.C. Richard, RC Willey, Sam’s Club, Target, and Walmart.
- Compare the right price: The comparison is the current pre-tax price. For an online comparison, shipping and delivery charges are not included.
Best Buy’s policy also excludes many types of offers, including coupons, bundles, financing, subscriptions, loyalty-only or customer-group pricing, trade-in and liquidation offers, contract phones, competitor service prices, and certain Black Friday, holiday, daily, or hourly promotions. Some membership-related video-game discounts and credit-card or gift-card offers are also excluded. This is not an exhaustive substitute for the policy: exclusions and terms may change, so check the current Best Buy Price Match Guarantee before relying on an offer.
Warehouse-club prices that require a membership login can be considered only in store, and the offer must be live rather than a screenshot. Puerto Rico stores have separate posted terms and are excluded from matching online and app prices.

How to request a competitor price match
BestBuy.com, app, and store-pickup orders
- Find the exact Best Buy item and the competitor’s current product page or ad. Verify the seller, condition, color, model, availability, and price.
- For a BestBuy.com purchase—including an app order or store-pickup order—contact Best Buy through online chat or call 1-888-237-8289 and ask for a price-match review.
- Have the competitor’s webpage address or current ad ready so Best Buy can verify the price and availability. Online requests cannot be completed in a store or by email.
- If the order has already been received or picked up, open the order’s Order Details and select See details to check whether price matching is available. For a shipped BestBuy.com order after purchase, the request must be made by the purchaser named in the order’s “Bill To” section.
Purchase at a Best Buy or Pacific Sales store
Ask a Customer Specialist or go to Customer Service. Show the active competitor ad or webpage and the matching product details. The lower offer must be verifiable and still in effect.
How to show “proof” of price
Best Buy recommends having the competitor’s current ad or website address ready. A live product page is useful because it lets the employee or online representative verify the current price and availability. A screenshot alone is not a substitute for a live offer when requesting a warehouse-club price that requires a member login; that request must be made in store.

Requesting a lower Best Buy price after you buy
Best Buy’s Price Match Guarantee policy, effective September 2, 2026, says: “If we lower our in-store, online or app price during the return and exchange period, we will match our lower price, upon request.” This is a request-based adjustment, not an automatic refund for an ordinary purchase.
- Recheck the product’s current price in the same relevant Best Buy channel—store, website, or app.
- Check whether you are still within the return and exchange period and whether the item and offer meet the policy terms.
- For an online order, open Order Details and look for See details. If the option is unavailable, contact Best Buy through chat or phone to ask about the order. For a store purchase, ask a Customer Specialist or Customer Service.
Store-pickup orders may qualify for a request when you pick up the item if the price is then lower in store or online. For an order with scheduled delivery, if Best Buy’s price drops before the scheduled delivery date, the FAQ says to call; Best Buy will refund the full difference, including tax. For a pre-order, Best Buy says a lower price at shipment is charged automatically. These specific cases differ from the request process for an ordinary completed purchase.

How to monitor a listing without an automatic alert
For an ordinary purchase, there is no published Best Buy promise that it will watch the price and notify you. A simple manual check is to save the product listing and periodically compare its current price with your order, while keeping the purchase date and return-period deadline in mind. If you see a lower eligible price, use the appropriate request route above rather than assuming the difference will be refunded automatically.

Troubleshooting a denied or unavailable request
- The competitor item looks similar, but the request is denied: Recheck brand, model number, color, condition, and seller. Similar product names are not enough if a key item detail differs.
- The competitor page shows a lower price but no stock: Best Buy excludes out-of-stock and limited-quantity offers; confirm immediate availability at the time of review.
- The low price is from a marketplace seller: Check who actually sells the item on the retailer page. Marketplace listings are excluded even when the retailer itself is on Best Buy’s qualified list.
- The offer uses a coupon, bundle, financing, or member-only deal: Those offer types are generally excluded. Best Buy says a customer may use a coupon or price-match the lower price, but not both.
- You cannot find “See details” in Order Details: The option is a way to check price-match availability, not a guarantee that every order qualifies. Contact Best Buy chat or phone for an online order; for a store purchase, ask Customer Service.
- You are outside the return and exchange period: The stated own-price adjustment applies during that period. The cited policy does not promise a general adjustment outside it.
- You are using a warehouse-club member price online: Best Buy says such a request is available only in store and requires a live offer, not a screenshot.

Can I request a price match by email?
No. Best Buy says online requests must be made through chat or by phone, not by email.
Does a Best Buy competitor price match include shipping or tax?
The competitor comparison uses the pre-tax price and excludes shipping or delivery charges. The scheduled-delivery price-drop FAQ separately says the refund in that case includes the full difference including tax.
Can I combine a coupon with a price match?
No. Best Buy’s FAQ says you may use a coupon or price-match the lower price, but not both.
