If you want more stick height, look at a raised extender; if you mainly want traction without changing the stock feel much, choose a lower-profile grip or cap. There is no established controlled head-to-head evidence here showing that one option delivers better accuracy.

When a lower-profile grip is the better alternative
Consider a lower-profile cap if your main complaint is a slippery or uncomfortable stick surface, not a lack of height. It can add traction without making the stick substantially taller, so the control remains closer to the stock feel. Check the cap’s shape and texture: a pronounced dome, concave surface, or aggressive pattern can feel different even when added height is minimal.

When to choose a raised or multi-height extender
A raised extender is the more direct option if you specifically want extra height and a larger contact surface. Increased height also changes leverage, so it is a feel adjustment rather than a guaranteed performance upgrade. A set with multiple heights lets you compare a smaller change with a taller one, but check what is included in the current listing. GamesRadar reports that one JSAUX variant adds 7 mm; that is a product figure from its comparison, not a general measurement for every JSAUX set.
Check exact controller fit before buying
Controller compatibility is model-specific. KontrolFreek says it primarily designs Performance Thumbsticks for standard PS5, PS4, Xbox Series X|S, and Xbox One controllers, and its guide names some other controllers individually. It also cautions that fit can vary on third-party controllers and is not guaranteed for models it has not tested.

For a particular controller—such as the Vader 3 Pro—do not assume that a grip made for a standard Xbox or PlayStation stick will fit just because the controller has familiar-looking thumbsticks. Check the accessory maker’s compatibility information for the exact model and variant, then compare the attachment style and stick dimensions if those are provided.
