For smooth AION 2 play, start with the official Full HD preset for your PC’s hardware tier: Very Low near the minimum requirements and Low near the recommended requirements. If performance still suffers, reduce demanding effects a few at a time—but keep enough character and skill visibility to read crowded fights. There is no verified universal preset or published FPS gain for individual settings.

Start with the official Full HD preset for your PC

NC’s global PC requirements list Windows 10 or 11 (64-bit), DirectX 12, broadband internet, and 100 GB of available storage. The minimum and recommended hardware tiers are different, and their Full HD preset guidance is a compatibility baseline—not a promise of a particular frame rate or performance at higher resolutions.

Tier Processor Memory Graphics card Official Full HD preset
Minimum AMD Ryzen 5 2600 or Intel Core i5-10500 8 GB NVIDIA GTX 1050 Ti (4 GB) Very Low, for compatibility
Recommended AMD Ryzen 7 3700X or Intel Core i7-11700 16 GB NVIDIA RTX 2070 (8 GB) Low, for compatibility

These specifications and presets come from NC’s AION 2 Global Support system requirements. The publisher recommends an SSD and lists 100 GB of storage; neither note establishes a rendered-FPS improvement from an SSD.

Lower settings in a controlled order

If the official starting preset is not smooth enough, change one setting or a small group at a time, then compare the same kind of activity. A quiet area can feel very different from a large battle, so check both if those are part of your normal play.

Try visually expensive options first

A recent third-party guide aimed at PCs near the minimum tier suggests lowering effects, mass battles, models, draw distance, shading, global illumination, reflections, post-processing, and anti-aliasing. It suggests very low vegetation, shadows, and clouds, with Performance or Balanced resolution scaling. Treat this as a possible starting recipe, not a tested or universally optimal configuration; the guide recommends leaving the upscaler off at first and trying it later only if needed. See Playnews’ AION 2 settings guidance.

Protect visibility in crowded combat

Lowering Mass Combat Quality may reduce rendering load, but it can also remove characters from view and make enemy positions harder to track. A less disruptive option may be limiting other players’ particle effects while keeping their character models visible. The trade-off matters particularly in PvP, where silhouettes and skill effects can carry useful information. A separate AION2 Guide settings analysis discusses these options and notes uncertainty in some menu details.

Judge scaling by clarity as well as smoothness

Guides differ on whether to enable scaling or an upscaler first, and the best choice can vary with graphics card and output resolution. Try one scaling or upscaling method at a time. Check whether the image remains clear enough for your needs as well as whether play feels smoother; the available guidance does not establish a single best setting for all PCs.

Choose settings around your display and play style

  • Resolution: Use the resolution you actually intend to play at. The official preset advice is specifically for Full HD and should not be read as a higher-resolution recommendation.
  • V-Sync: One recent guide recommends turning it off as a default, but this is editorial advice, not an official prescription. Choose based on whether tearing bothers you and how the game feels on your display.
  • Refresh rate: A guide’s suggested 60 Hz baseline is not a universal requirement. Use a setting suited to your monitor and preference.
  • Combat information: If reducing crowd settings makes opponents or important effects harder to see, restore the relevant option and try lowering another visual setting instead.

Compare changes in the same situation where possible: output resolution and sharpness, smoothness and frame-time consistency in quiet areas versus crowded combat, visible character models and effects, and whether your PC appears limited by its processor or graphics card. The available sources do not provide controlled, comparable FPS measurements, so they cannot support a numeric gain or a ranked list of settings.

What NVIDIA features are announced?

NVIDIA announced AION 2 support for DLSS Super Resolution, DLSS Frame Generation, and NVIDIA Reflex in its GeForce AION 2 announcement. This establishes that the features were announced, not a specific FPS gain, image-quality result, supported graphics-card list, or benefit for every PC. Consider them only where your hardware and in-game options support them, and assess the image and responsiveness on your own setup.

When hardware or storage may be relevant

If the game is installed on a hard drive, an SSD is a reasonable storage consideration: NC recommends one, and the requirements call for 100 GB available. The published guidance does not say that an SSD increases rendered FPS. Likewise, the recommended-tier RTX 2070 is a requirement example, not a current upgrade recommendation; an appropriate upgrade depends on your existing hardware, target resolution, and budget.
