For Android users, Gemini is the clearest fit if you want an assistant that can place a routine business call for you—but Google’s “Call for me” feature has strict eligibility requirements and is rolling out gradually. On iPhone, Siri offers conversational help and can surface useful details during a call you make, but Apple’s documentation does not establish that Siri can call a business autonomously. The right choice depends on your phone and whether you want help placing a call, handling the call itself, or completing everyday tasks.
How Gemini and Siri compare
| What you want to do | Gemini on Android | Siri on iPhone |
|---|---|---|
| Call a contact, business, or number | Can use Android’s calling app, with the required setup and permissions. Google’s Gemini calling instructions. | Apple documents Siri and call-time features, but the cited material does not establish autonomous business calling. Apple’s iPhone Siri guide. |
| Ask an assistant to handle a routine business call | “Call for me” can handle certain requests, such as checking hours, asking about availability, or booking an appointment. Access is limited by eligibility and rollout. Google’s “Call for me” help page. | Not established in the consulted Apple documentation. |
| Get help with everyday tasks | Gemini Live supports voice workflows involving connected Google apps, including Gmail and Calendar. Availability of named features may require a subscription tier. Google’s Gemini Live announcement. | Siri supports conversational requests, follow-up questions, and system-integrated actions; Apple Intelligence availability varies by device, language, and region. Apple’s iPhone Siri guide and Apple’s September 14, 2026 announcement. |
These are vendor-described capabilities, not a head-to-head test. The available sources do not provide comparable call success rates or independent performance benchmarks, so there is no evidence-based universal winner.
Choose Gemini if you use Android
For ordinary calls: Gemini can use your Phone app
Gemini’s standard Android calling feature can place a call to a contact, business, or number using the device’s calling app. It requires Android, an active mobile phone plan, the Gemini app, synced contact information, and permission for the Google app to use the Phone app. This is ordinary calling through your phone—not the same as Gemini handling a business conversation on your behalf. Google says this function is not available in Gemini on the web or in Google Messages. It also says not to use it to contact emergency services. If a request depends on other Google apps, it may not work when Keep Activity is off. See Google’s setup and availability details.
For delegated business calls: check “Call for me” eligibility first
Google describes “Call for me” as a way to ask Gemini to contact a business for routine requests: checking opening hours, product availability, or service quotes; booking, confirming, or managing appointments and reservations; navigating phone menus; and waiting on hold. For example, Google suggests asking it to call a dry cleaner about the price of hemming pants or to book a table.

As of Google’s currently published requirements, access is gradually rolling out and is limited to users who are at least 18 and in the US, using a Pixel 11 with a US SIM, a Google AI subscription, the latest Gemini app, and the Public Beta Phone by Google app, with the device language set to English. The feature calls US numbers only. These requirements can change; check Google’s current eligibility and feature information before relying on access. Owning the specified phone by itself does not guarantee availability.
Before placing a call, Gemini presents a summary for you to review, including the number and information it will share. You then tap “Call for me.” During the call, you can monitor a live transcript or audio, cancel before the call connects, or take over. Google says calls use your mobile network and number, standard carrier rates apply, and daily call limits apply. The assistant discloses that it is an AI assistant from Google calling on a recorded line on your behalf and states your name.

For connected-app tasks: use Gemini Live where available
Google’s August 26, 2026 announcement describes Gemini Live workflows that combine voice interaction with connected apps. Its examples include a spoken daily brief based on Gmail and Calendar; searching, summarizing, starring, archiving, or deleting Gmail messages; and delegating some multi-step work, such as turning email invitations into Calendar events. Google says Spark requires Google AI Pro or higher, while Daily Brief requires Google AI Plus or higher. These are vendor-described features; actual access depends on Google’s current availability and account requirements. See Google’s announcement.

Choose Siri if you use an iPhone
Siri is the more natural choice if you want help within Apple’s iPhone experience: Apple describes conversational requests, corrections, typed requests, follow-up questions that retain context, and systemwide app actions. Apple Intelligence is not available on every iPhone or in every language and region, so check compatibility for your device and location in Apple’s iPhone guide.
Apple’s September 14, 2026 announcement says its Siri AI features began rolling out in beta in English, with additional languages planned for the following month. Apple also describes “Call Context,” which can surface information such as a confirmation code or reservation number when you are calling a business. That is assistance during a call you place; the cited Apple material does not say Siri can independently call a business and handle a request for you. See Apple’s announcement.

Which assistant fits your situation?
- You want an assistant to make a routine business call: Gemini’s “Call for me” is the documented option here, but only if you meet Google’s current requirements and the feature has reached your account.
- You want to call using voice on Android: Gemini can use the Android Phone app after the required permissions and contact setup; this is not delegated calling.
- You want everyday voice workflows across Google apps: Gemini Live’s connected-app features may suit you, subject to Google’s current availability and any subscription thresholds.
- You want help with iPhone tasks and details while you call: Siri offers Apple-integrated requests and call-time context; verify Apple Intelligence support for your device, language, and region.
For either assistant, confirm the feature is actually available on your device and account before building a task around it. Neither vendor’s cited documentation provides independent evidence that its assistant will complete calls more reliably than the other.
