If you want a 48-inch OLED instead of the LG C6, the Samsung S90F is the clearest current alternative in the US, while the LG C5 and Panasonic Z90B are worth checking in markets where remaining stock is available. The right choice depends on local price and the exact 48-inch model: panel type and test results from a larger version do not necessarily apply to the smaller TV.

Best 48-inch OLED alternatives at a glance

TV Why consider it Important qualification
Samsung S90F, 48-inch A direct 48-inch OLED alternative; Samsung lists 144Hz motion capability for its US model. The 48-inch model uses W-OLED, according to TechRadar, while that publication reviewed the 65-inch QD-OLED version. Its review results do not establish how the 48-inch set performs. US stock was listed as out of stock when Samsung’s page was accessed October 7, 2026.
LG C5, 48-inch A previous-generation LG OLED that may cost less than the C6 where leftover stock remains. What Hi-Fi? reported remaining UK stock and a lower price than the C6 at its October 2026 review; availability and prices vary by country and retailer.
Panasonic Z90B, 48-inch A competing OLED option identified by What Hi-Fi? as an award-winning model. What Hi-Fi? reported it remained on sale in the UK; global availability is not established.
LG C6, 48-inch The current-generation reference point, with 4K OLED, Dolby Vision, HDR10, HLG, four HDMI 2.1 inputs and gaming features up to 165Hz listed by What Hi-Fi?. LG’s US product page showed a $1,599.99 list price when accessed October 7, 2026; treat it as a dated listing, not a guaranteed offer.

Which 48-inch OLED should you choose?

Choose the Samsung S90F if its 48-inch price and features suit you

Samsung’s US model is QN48S90FAEXZA, and its product listing specifies 144Hz motion capability. Samsung displayed a $1,499.99 price but showed the 48-inch option out of stock on October 7, 2026. Check the live listing and retailers in your country before deciding: neither the displayed price nor stock status is a standing guarantee. Samsung’s 48-inch S90F product page.

Be careful when comparing reviews. TechRadar’s S90F review covered the 65-inch QD-OLED model, whereas it identifies the 48-inch S90F as W-OLED and says it cannot fully comment on that smaller set. Do not assume the 48-inch version has the larger TV’s panel or measured picture performance. TechRadar’s 48–50-inch TV guide.

Choose the LG C5 if the discount is substantial

The 48-inch C5 is a sensible previous-generation comparison if you find one locally at a meaningful saving over the C6. What Hi-Fi? reported that remaining C5 stock could still be found in the UK and presented it as a less expensive alternative at the time of its October 2026 review. That does not establish current stock or price in other regions.

Consider the Panasonic Z90B where it is sold

What Hi-Fi? identified the 48-inch Z90B as an award-winning competing OLED that remained on sale in the UK at review time. Its availability outside that market is not established here, so check local retailers rather than treating it as a global option.

Keep the C6 if its feature set justifies its local price

The C6 is a capable benchmark, not an automatic best-value purchase. LG’s US listing identifies the 48-inch model as OLED48C6AUA and describes it as a 4K OLED with Alpha 11 AI Processor Gen3 and Wi-Fi 6E. What Hi-Fi?’s 48-inch review lists Dolby Vision, HDR10 and HLG, four HDMI 2.1 inputs, and gaming features up to 165Hz. Compare the price you can actually pay against older models rather than assuming the newest model is the best buy. LG’s 48-inch C6 listing and What Hi-Fi?’s 48-inch C6 review.

How to compare the candidates before buying

  1. Confirm the exact size and model code. Make sure the listing is for a 48-inch set, not a similarly named 55-, 65- or 77-inch model. Panel type can differ by size, as the S90F illustrates.
  2. Compare local, current prices. Check retailers in your country for the delivered price and actual stock. LG’s US C6 listing showed $1,599.99 and Samsung’s US S90F page showed $1,499.99 on October 7, 2026; those are US page observations from that date, not universal or continuing prices.
  3. Match HDR formats to your viewing. The C6 specifications in What Hi-Fi?’s review include Dolby Vision, HDR10 and HLG. Check the precise format support of any alternative against the services and devices you use; the cited material does not establish a complete feature-by-feature HDR comparison for every candidate.
  4. Check gaming connections and refresh support. The C6 review lists four HDMI 2.1 inputs and features up to 165Hz; Samsung’s US listing gives the S90F 144Hz motion capability. These figures come from different product pages and review material, so they are not a controlled comparison of gaming performance. Confirm port count, supported refresh rates and console or PC compatibility for the exact size you plan to buy.
  5. Weigh platform and picture preferences. Consider which smart-TV interface you prefer and how you watch in your room. The available evidence does not provide same-size, controlled testing across all four sets, so do not treat a general review of another screen size as a direct verdict on the 48-inch model.

What the evidence can—and cannot—tell you

TechRadar names the C6 its best 48-to-50-inch TV for most people, while noting the limitation of not reviewing the 48-inch S90F. That is useful editorial context, not proof that the C6 is the best purchase at every local price. The product specifications and availability observations above are specific to the cited sources and dates; they do not establish current stock, a guaranteed price, or a controlled same-size comparison of every candidate. RTINGS.com’s C6-versus-S90F comparison is another reference, but confirm that its model and size coverage matches the 48-inch TVs you are considering.
