The notice does not show that every Bell customer or line is affected, and the plans covered have not been identified.
What Bell customers were told
MobileSyrup reported on August 18, 2026, that it had seen a Bell bill notice shared by a customer. The reproduced notice says: “Starting on your October 2026 Mobility bill date, the price of your monthly rate plan will increase by $6/month.” The increase is described as applying to the monthly rate plan, not as a one-time charge.
The report does not name the affected plans or establish how many customers or lines received the notice. It also does not establish the geographic scope, whether account credits offset the increase for some customers, or Bell’s reason for this particular change. Treat the notice as an alert to check your own account, not evidence of a Bell-wide increase.
How to check whether your bill will change
The reproduced notice directs customers to review their Bell Mobility agreement or manage their account through the MyBell app or online at bell.ca/mybell. Check the account and the bill date shown there; the reported start date is each customer’s October 2026 Mobility bill date, not necessarily the first day of October.

Some Bell customers had also seen price increases in July, according to the report. It does not establish whether those July notices involved the same customers or plans as the October notices, so compare your own bills rather than assuming the changes are connected.
Can you change or cancel your Bell plan without a penalty?
The notice says customers who want to add to, cancel without penalty, or modify their plan in accordance with their agreement should call Bell at 1-800-667-0123. That wording is qualified by each customer’s agreement; it does not guarantee that every account has the same options or outcome. Review your agreement and ask Bell to explain how a proposed change applies to your line before proceeding.

What to compare before switching
A different plan or carrier may or may not cost less once the terms and your usage are accounted for. Bell’s public mobility page says plan changes are subject to account terms and conditions. When comparing options, check:
- Ongoing cost: Compare the regular price after promotional or automatic-payment credits, and confirm how long each credit lasts.
- Data and travel: Check the data allowance, speed, and roaming terms against how you use your phone.
- Coverage: Consider service where you live, work, and travel—not just a provider’s general coverage claim.
- Account obligations: Check the remaining device balance, plan term, and any credits or obligations tied to your current account.
- Number transfer: Confirm the steps and timing for moving your number, and do not cancel the existing service before understanding the transfer process.
Bell’s public page directs people seeking a new prepaid activation to Lucky Mobile, saying Bell no longer offers prepaid plans for new activations. That is not proof that a particular Lucky Mobile or other plan will save you money: verify current prices, eligibility, coverage, data, roaming, and credits for your circumstances.

What the reported increase does—and does not—establish
The $6 figure comes from a customer-shared bill notice reproduced by MobileSyrup, rather than a statement attributed in the report to a named Bell spokesperson. The available information does not establish a universal price change, identify every affected plan, or give an official Bell explanation for the increase.
The CRTC describes the Wireless Code as helping consumers understand wireless contracts and switch providers. It also identifies the Commission for Complaints for Telecom-television Services (CCTS) as an independent organization that assists with telecommunications and television service disputes. These are general consumer resources; they do not indicate that either body has ruled on this reported increase.
