Baldur’s Gate 3’s September 29, 2026 hotfix addresses three different problems: a startup crash when launching through the GOG Mac launcher, players being booted while creating map markers on PS5, and patchy-looking beards. Larian’s announcement does not identify which fix the “after three years” framing refers to—or establish that any one of these issues lasted that long.
What did Baldur’s Gate 3 fix?
Larian’s September 29, 2026 announcement lists three changes in game version 4.1.1.7631656. They affect two platform-specific problems and one visual detail.

Which fix had lasted three years?
The official post does not say. It names the three fixes but gives no report date or history for any of them, so it is not possible to identify one as the issue that supposedly lingered for three years. In particular, the announcement does not support attributing that duration specifically to the PS5 map-marker problem.

The headline’s comparison with live-service RPGs is opinion, not a conclusion established by the announcement. The post documents what this Baldur’s Gate 3 update addresses; it does not establish how other games would handle similar problems.
How to get the hotfix
Update Baldur’s Gate 3 to the latest available version for your platform. The announced game version is 4.1.1.7631656. Larian’s post says to update, but does not give platform-by-platform installation steps or specify a rollout schedule.

Larian’s September 2025 Hotfix #34 post documents earlier fixes and platform details. It does not connect any of the three September 2026 changes to a three-year history, so it cannot resolve which issue the headline’s duration refers to.
