AuthenticID announced an enhanced version of Smart ReAuth on August 28, 2024. The company said it could verify a returning user in less than one second, but that is a vendor claim—not an independently demonstrated benchmark. Smart ReAuth is a selfie-based biometric reauthentication step for people who have already completed initial identity verification; it is not a replacement for that first identity check.
What Smart ReAuth does
Smart ReAuth is designed to confirm that a returning person is the same user previously verified during enrollment. AuthenticID’s product sheet describes an initial identity-verification process followed, with the user’s consent, by storage of an encrypted biometric template tied to a unique identifier. On a later login or sensitive action, the user takes a selfie. The system then compares the face with the enrolled template and performs liveness or anti-spoofing checks, according to the company’s materials.
That distinction matters: initial identity proofing establishes an identity for the first time, while reauthentication checks a person against an existing enrollment. AuthenticID describes the flow as: “Smart ReAuth™ leverages a selfie image to reauthenticate a user within seconds.” AuthenticID’s Smart ReAuth product sheet
What the speed claims mean
In its August 28, 2024 announcement, AuthenticID said the enhanced service could complete verifications in less than one second. Its 2025 product sheet also lists verification in less than one second as a benefit, while a separate workflow illustration says the selfie reauthenticates identity in five seconds or less. These figures are not necessarily measuring the same step or end-to-end workflow, and the sources do not provide an independent test method or benchmark. Treat them as company-reported claims, not a guarantee of the time a customer will experience.

- RFID 1K Card operates at 13.56MHz wireless frequency,according to the ISO14443A standard,and contains 1K bytes of read/write memory,but UID can’t change,uid is not rewritable
- All cards are pre-programmed with a unique ID(4 Byte UID). The UID is NOT changeable, factory default key: FF FF FF FF FF FF
- They are credit card size, each card individually OPP bag packed. Blank white both sides(no printed numbers, no magnetic strips and no slots or holes)
The announcement called the service “instant biometric reauthentication,” but that wording should not be read as proof of comparative speed or performance under every deployment condition. The syndicated August 2024 announcement described it as “The next-gen, quick-to-deploy solution aids customers in the defense against AI-based attacks and account takeovers.” This is AuthenticID’s promotional positioning; the announcement does not establish independent fraud-prevention results.
Where organizations might use it
AuthenticID presents Smart ReAuth as a step-up check for consumer and workforce accounts. A company could request a selfie reauthentication when an action carries more risk than an ordinary session, or when a user needs to recover access.

How it fits into a web or mobile service
AuthenticID describes integration into web, iOS, and Android workflows. The product is enterprise software, not a standalone consumer device: the materials do not identify a dedicated biometric reader or other required hardware. A user’s selfie is captured within the organization’s application or web experience as part of the authentication flow.

For an implementation review, ask how enrollment consent is obtained, how biometric templates are protected and retained, whether and how they can be deleted, and what happens when a selfie check fails. Also ask for documentation on liveness and presentation-attack testing, the precise boundary used for any speed measurement, supported integrations, and evidence from deployments comparable to yours. The reviewed announcement and product materials do not establish independent accuracy, fraud-prevention, or deployment-time results.
