1Scan for outdated or missing drivers - takes under a minute2Repair Windows errors before they cause bigger problems3Fix the driver behind crashes, sound loss and screen glitchesA pre-launch report attributed prices of €599 for the standard ROG Xbox Ally and €899 for the Ally X to leaker Extas1s, but ASUS and Microsoft had not confirmed those prices when the report appeared. ASUS later displayed US prices of $599.99 and $999.99, respectively, on its product pages when checked October 4, 2026. Those are separate, dated figures—not a conversion of the leak.
What the ROG Xbox Ally price leak said
MeriStation reported that leaker Extas1s put the standard ROG Xbox Ally at €599 and the ROG Xbox Ally X at €899. MeriStation noted at the time that neither ASUS nor Microsoft had announced pricing, so these were unconfirmed leak figures, not official launch prices. MeriStation’s report also compared the alleged prices with historical euro prices for other handhelds.
The same report listed the Steam Deck LCD at €419, Steam Deck OLED models at €569 and €679, and the Lenovo Legion Go range at €630–€799.99. These are figures from that report’s market and period, not current quotes. They should not be compared directly with US prices or treated as today’s prices.
Official US prices shown later
ASUS’s US product pages displayed the following prices when checked October 4, 2026. They are listing prices at that time, not guarantees of future pricing; offers and prices can vary by location and retailer.

What changes between the Ally and Ally X
Processor and price tier
The standard Ally uses the Ryzen Z2 A; the X uses the Ryzen AI Z2 Extreme. ASUS’s US pages showed a $400 difference between them on the date checked. The processor names identify distinct tiers, but the available product-page information here does not establish a controlled, like-for-like performance gap in games.
Battery and screen
ASUS lists an 80Wh battery for the Ally X. Xbox’s device-family page lists 60Wh or 80Wh capacities across the Ally family, and describes 120Hz 1080p displays across the range. ASUS’s standard Ally materials also specify a 120Hz Full HD display. Xbox’s ROG Xbox Ally family page provides the family-level details.

ASUS says the Ally X can deliver “up to 2X battery life” compared with the previous ROG Ally X in its test of Hollow Knight: Silksong at 720p, a 60 FPS limit, low in-game graphics settings, and Silent mode. That is a vendor result under those specific conditions; it is not a general promise for every game or a direct estimate of everyday battery life. ASUS’s Ally X page states the test conditions.

Current Valve prices were not verified here, so the Steam Deck figures above are historical euro context only. For a more recent, dated comparison, Windows Central’s October 16, 2025 hands-on article cited Legion Go 2 configurations at $1,049.99 and $1,349.99. Those are review-era prices rather than live quotes, so check availability and current pricing before comparing a purchase.

Windows Central’s Legion Go 2 and Ally X comparison also reported review-specific battery tests: the Legion Go 2 lasted 2 hours 17 minutes in Cyberpunk 2077 at maximum TDP, compared with 1 hour 53 minutes for the Ally X; in its office-task test, the Ally X lasted 14 hours 24 minutes and the Legion Go 2 lasted 11 hours 30 minutes. These results depend on that review’s methods and test conditions, so they should not be read as typical game-play runtimes or guaranteed results.

Software and storage affect the comparison
The Ally is a Windows gaming handheld, not an Xbox console that runs every Xbox game locally. Xbox says it can access supported games from Xbox and other PC storefronts. ASUS lists Windows 11, Xbox Cloud Gaming (Beta, which requires a Game Pass membership), and Xbox Remote Play. Cloud and remote play are distinct from installing and running a PC game on the handheld; the pages do not say that Game Pass is included indefinitely. Xbox’s device page and ASUS’s Ally page describe those options.
Xbox’s page presents optional SanDisk microSD choices in 512GB, 1TB, and 2TB capacities. A card is an expansion option, not a required purchase; verify compatibility and the specific card’s price before choosing one.
Quick Recap
Which comparison matters most?
- Choose by budget first: the standard Ally is the lower-priced ASUS US listing; the X costs more and uses a different processor tier.
- Prioritize screen size and tabletop play: the Legion Go 2 comparison highlights its larger OLED screen, detachable controllers, and kickstand, features that differ meaningfully from the Ally X’s smaller IPS panel.
- Compare the games and software you use: Steam Deck and Windows handhelds differ in software ecosystems. The Ally supports Windows and multiple PC storefronts, but cloud play and remote play should not be mistaken for local compatibility with every console game.
- Check prices in your region on the day you buy: the leaked euro figures, ASUS’s later US page prices, and Lenovo’s dated review prices are not interchangeable live offers.
