Assassin’s Creed Heredis: Echoes of the Past is a live stage show, not a video game. Created by the 7 Fingers Troupe, it combines acrobatics, parkour, theatre, and historical storytelling. By contrast, the latest released game, Assassin’s Creed Black Flag Resynced, is an interactive adventure in which players control pirate Edward Kenway. Ubisoft says you do not need to know the games to enjoy Heredis.
What is Assassin’s Creed Heredis?
Ubisoft describes Heredis: Echoes of the Past as a “new, wholly original live show with Assassin’s Creed.” The 7 Fingers Troupe created the production, which uses acrobatics, parkour, theatre, and history to tell its story.
The announced premise follows a young man travelling across history in search of his lost father. Ubisoft says prior knowledge of the game series is not required. Heredis draws on the Assassin’s Creed universe, but it is not described as an adaptation of a particular game or as a playable entry in the series.
How Heredis compares with the recent games
The main difference is what you do: watch a live performance in Heredis, or play through a character’s story in the games. The comparison below reflects Ubisoft’s descriptions; it is not a judgment of quality or a firsthand review.
#1 Best Overall

Whether blending into crowds or leading daring assaults, switch between silent takedowns and fierce brawls as you effortlessly wield swords, pistols, and the Hidden Blade. With a cast of historical pirate legends at your side, defy empires amidst the age-old conflict opposing Assassins and Templars.
- A CLASSIC REBUILT FOR AN ENHANCED EXPERIENCE- Combat has been rebuilt for more dynamic encounters, emphasizing parries and takedowns, while stealth and parkour have been improved for smoother escapes and assassinations. Continuously upgrade the Jackdaw to face powerful enemy ships with enhanced naval mechanics featuring new alternate fire modes. Quality-of-life additions also address previous pain points, ensuring your experience is improved.

Take in sweeping vistas as you brave stormy waters, dive into underwater shipwrecks, or push through dense tropical jungles. Enhanced by features such as Dolby Atmos and ray tracing, every scene feels more immersive, bringing the world’s beauty to life.
- EXPANDING EDWARD’S ADVENTURE- Building on top of the original story, Assassin’s Creed Black Flag Resynced introduces exclusive new content. Familiar faces will return, with new storylines dedicated to fan-favorite characters such as Blackbeard and Stede Bonnet. Unexpected allies will also cross your path, as three officers join you on your journey as part of the main narrative. More surprises await, such as new sea shanties, pets, a photo mode, and more.

How does Heredis relate to Assassin’s Creed Shadows?
Assassin’s Creed Shadows is a recent game released in 2025, but it is not the newest release as of October 2026. Ubisoft’s June 16, 2026 final update added a concluding story chapter for Naoe and Yasuke, challenge content, and a narrative connection to Black Flag Resynced.
That connection is part of the games’ story and update material; it does not make Heredis a continuation or adaptation of either game. Heredis is a separate live production with its own announced premise.
