Arken Age can now be streamed from a PC to Steam Frame through both OpenXR and SteamVR launch options, following the October 1, 2026 update. That is not native standalone support: developer VitruviusVR says it is still deciding whether to make a separate Steam Frame standalone port or focus its resources on its next VR title.
Does the update let Arken Age run standalone on Steam Frame?
No. Version 1.008.000 adds PC streaming support, which means the game runs on a PC and its output is streamed to Steam Frame. A standalone port would be a separate version that runs on the headset itself. VitruviusVR has not confirmed that it will make one.

The studio’s October 1 announcement says: “Currently we are deciding whether to dedicate our resources to a Steam Frame Standalone port or to continue having 100% focus on building our next VR title.” It gives no decision date. What changed in Arken Age version 1.008.000?
The October 1, 2026 patch adds Steam Frame support to both OpenXR and SteamVR launch options. SteamDB records the release as build 25626822. The update also includes controller and gameplay adjustments:

- Steam Frame controller actions: Shields and grenades can be deployed while moving using the non-movement controller, alongside syringes. Bumpers can eject weapon batteries.
- Crouching: Physical crouching was adjusted so in-game height follows the headset more closely, while existing joint strength for jumps and falls is preserved. Stick crouching is faster.
- Map tracking: Enemies are tracked on the map in areas where killing them is required.
- Combat: Brute melee hit detection was improved to make blocking more reliable.
- Tutorials: Hints for weapon-mod crafting and vending-machine purchases are clearer.

Steam describes Arken Age as a VR action-adventure set in the Bio-Chasm, a terraformed fantasy world. Its combat uses physics-based interactions with Arkenite-infused swords and guns. The update’s new streaming support is relevant to players hoping to access that PC game through Steam Frame, but it does not establish that the game installs or runs natively on the headset. - If you want to play through Steam Frame now, the announced addition is PC streaming via OpenXR or SteamVR.
- If you are waiting for a version that runs directly on Steam Frame, the studio has not announced that port or when it might decide.
- The standalone choice is presented as a resource trade-off: work on a port or keep full focus on the studio’s next VR title.
