Choose ARC Raiders if you want an extraction adventure built around scavenging, risking loot, and escaping PvE machines and other players. Choose THE FINALS if you want quick team-based arena matches where destruction and teamwork shape the fight. They come from the same studio, but they are different kinds of multiplayer games—not competing extraction shooters. The right pick depends on whether you want extraction stakes or arena competition.

ARC Raiders suits players who enjoy searching a hostile environment, weighing the value of what they have collected, and deciding whether to keep pushing or leave. Its threat comes from both machines and other players, so the scavenging trip carries risk as well as the possibility of valuable loot.
Pick THE FINALS for competitive team matches
THE FINALS is the better fit if you want a team arena match rather than an expedition with loot to extract. Its defining hook is a destructible, changeable arena: success depends on working with teammates and adapting how the space is used.

What does each game cost to try?
THE FINALS is free to play. Embark’s support FAQ, last updated July 8, 2026, says no purchase is required for core gameplay on Steam, PlayStation 5, and Xbox Series X|S; it describes optional purchases as cosmetic. See Embark’s free-to-play FAQ.
ARC Raiders is a paid game, but its price and any discount depend on the storefront, region, and date. Steam showed a temporary 50% promotion ending October 8, 2026 when checked; that is not its regular price. Check your platform’s current listing before buying. The Steam page lists October 30, 2025 as its release date and Embark Studios as developer and publisher.

ARC Raiders’ official site lists Steam, Epic Games Store, PlayStation 5, Xbox Series X|S, and GeForce NOW, and describes cross-platform social play across PlayStation, Xbox, and PC. THE FINALS’ official platform and free-to-play FAQ lists Steam, PlayStation 5, and Xbox Series X|S. If your group plays across different systems, check the current cross-play details for the specific game and platforms before settling on one.

ARC Raiders’ official site announced the Frozen Trail update for October 8, 2026 and linked a free-play period for October 8–12, 2026. GamesRadar also reported those dates for the trial. These dates are time-sensitive; check the official ARC Raiders site and the GamesRadar report to see whether the event is still active.
